Criag's Bio

Craig Montoya was born on the 14th of September, 1970. He grew up in Spokane, Washington, where he raced BMX bikes. When looking for a hobby, he decided on playing the bass because it was rare to see a person playing it and he knew he had a better chance on the bass than guitar. Craig got himself into a bad crowd and started doing and dealing drugs. At the age of 17, police raided his house, but at the time he was not home. Sooner enough though, the law caught up with him ad he spent some time in jail.

Once released, he realized that drugs would get him no where in the world and he decided to change his life and go clean. Since he knew how to play the bass well, he decided to try pursuing a carreer in playing the bass. He moved to Portland and since he needed some money while trying to get going with the bass job, he got a job washing boats. He played with the band Soul Hammer, but they never released any albums, and they really really sucked. When he saw an ad for a bassist in a local newspaper, he responded to it. When talking to Art Alexakis, the leader of the band, he heard all the ideas and plans and knew that the band would be going somewhere fast. That wasn't true, it did take a while for that band to go anywhere, but they did make it.

Ever since he joined Everclear, he has been content with his life. On October 24th, 1998, Craig got married to Christel Bevins. Craig is a happy person now!! And he is cool!! don't do drugs!!
