The Holocron Small handheld mechanisms, made with crystalline cubes, holocrons store the history and lore of the Jedi religion. Each holocron is specially made to the users specifications. Holocrons all have different ways of access. Some would be accessed with the touch of a button or a single phrase said aloud. Master Bodo Baas built a holocron that would activate as soon as anyone Force sensitive picked the machine up. The structure of a holocron was devised many years ago. Over the years the procedures to build them have been lost. Each holocron consists of a complex latticework created by the many cryatalline cubes throughout the device. This latticework has no energy source and seems to have an unlimited storage capacity. Holocrons were created as a way to pass information from one generation of Jedi to the next. They documented historical events such as the defeat of Exar Kun, ancient Lord of the Sith. Others document training techniques, as well as, meditation techniques. Holocrons were thought of as a way to allow all Jedi to remember the tragic and heroic events in the past. Each holocron has a host. The host is usually the programmed image of the Master who built the holocron. The host usually has the exact same personaliy as the original master. Along with the main host, the holocron will have many other recreated personalities to host different sections throughout the holocrons documentaries. The host trains the Jedi with the recorded techniques. They are sensitive to the trainees skill in the Force and restrict access to any information that could prove devastating to the trainee. Most of the holocrons have been lost due to a passing of time and Emperor Palpatine's orders to destroy the Jedi and anything belonging to them. Luke Skywalker knew of the device through his conversations with Obi-Wan Kenobi. He did not see one until his encounter with the reincarnated Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor possessed the holocron of Master Bodo Baas. Luke managed to gain ownership of the instrument and used it to further train himself in the Force. Unfortunately, the instrument was destroyed during the fight against the Emperor and his forces. It is believed that somewhere in the galaxy huts of old Jedi survived the years.
