Many apologies for taking so long with the next chapter. Aside from starting a new job, one of my uncompleted atories at the web page has taken on a life of it's own. "Downing," a Star Trek story, has suddenly developed a fan following so I've been trying to get it completed as fast as I can. I can't believe how fast it caught on with readers and has spread from one person to the next. I put hit counters on all of my stories a couple of weeks ago and "Downing" climbed to over 500 hits in that time -passing up "I Quit" as the most read story at the page.
This is not to say everyone likes "Downing." Ha! Far from it. It's a story about Jean Luc Picard and Vash and I'm getting creamed by Picard/Crusher shippers in as big a number as I'm getting positive notes from non-shippers.
The P/Cers have been so nasty I started rewriting the story to really give them something to complain about. I've added Dr. Crusher to the story - she wasn't in the original version - and letting her have a romance with one of the original characters.
Ha! Ha! Ha! Mine is an evil laugh.
It's so much fun! I wish I could share some of the bad reviews but a lot of the language is not so nice. I believe "sucky" is the nicest word anyone has called it.

Anyway, that's my big excuse for taking so long.
It's coming, it's coming. And, yeah, there will be some John/Julia action, ok???
I promise it will be along soon.
Oh, one more thing. Did anyone else see the Ebay auction this week where a set of fan-made DVDs of Earth 2 sold for over $160??? I missed it, but a friend told me about it.
I wish I had known about it. I'd have never bid that high - can't afford that high a price - but I would have bid at least once while the price was still under a hundred. I think this link will let you see how the item was presented.

Do you mean all the encouragement you're getting for Downing is what's keeping you from getting the next chapter of this story ready????
LOL! I'm guilty of taking you away from the Earth 2 universe. I've been reading Downing and I love it. Can't wait for the next chapter.
Well, word about a good story has a way of getting around, Rob. Remember Assimilation? Someone read it and started sending links to everyone and we all discussed it chapter by chapter for weeks. It's Downing's turn to have that kind of attention. :)

I looked at the auction facts and I wish I could afford to bid on something like that. I'd really like to have the series on either DVD or VCD. I don't know how much longer my tapes will be watchable. With all the old TV shows showing up on DVD, I'm hoping E2 will be released soon, really, really hoping.
Have you heard anything in the groups about anyone up in Canada willing to record the series in January and help get some fan made DVDs going?

Try real hard to splityour time better. I like the way the Downing storyis going. beverly Crusher in a romance with the son of Picard is classic! lol!
Beverly/Evan on one hand, John/Julia on the other. its an even balance myfriend. they are both great couples.
that auction started out way beyondme. a fifty dollar plus price tag would have been the high end for me not a starting bid. unbelievable.
Robert we have to get together and put the best of our tapes on disk and make a passable set. even if no other set of DVDS goes for that price again we knwthere are people out there who want Earth 2 on something more permanent than tapes.
lets put out a call for good tapes and try to make a fan produced set.

The same seller has another set, presumably from the same source, for sale with only one bidder so far. The starting bid is once again 50-plus dollars. I want to bid but I'm going to wait for the final day. If it goes over 100 again, it's beyond me.

2nd E2 Auction

I'm having fun with both stories, to tell the truth. The only difference is the Earth 2 fans who object to the John/Julia thing are not as vocal as the Picard/Crusher shippers. I get an email now and then from an Earth 2 fan who thinks I'm a character assassin, but nowhere near as many emails as I get from the P/Cers who can't stand the thought of Picard with anyone but Beverly. Oddly enough they say nothing about Beverly and Evan, no objections there (??) - just Picard and Vash. I'm not a Vash fan, but, man, they're pushing me toward becoming one!

Hey, Richie, I have an update. There seems to be a movemnet getting started to make a fan produced set in one of the Yahoo Earth 2 groups. Hopefully, this time it will be more than just talk. I've offered the best of my tapes to be used to help put a set together.

I just went over and checked out that auctionand the high bid is $227!! we have to puttogether a set fast Rob! i don't want to pay that much for a good set and I don't want to have to buy aset from one of the auction buyers tryingto make back their money! know what I mean?
