Uses for sodium
Sodium is a very interesting substance. It main use in salt is incredibly valuable to people, because salt helps keep foods from spoiling longer, and makes food taste better too.
Sodium was discovered in 1807, by Sir Humphrey Davy. Its symbol originated from the Latin word natrium (sodium). It's obtained from table salts and other foods, but never found pure in nature. There is also a massive salt mine under Lake Erie.
