Why A&E decided to remake such a masterpiece as the 1980 tv version of Lathe Of Heaven makes totally no sence. The original film was a perfect comination of ideas and vision. The new film trods over the same ground in a b-version way leaving out all the fasinating character humor and what the hell were they thinking with that miserable ending. It seems the filmakers were trying to emphasise the beauty of story and not the most important inner themes of the Ursala K. Le Guin famous novel. The story is the same this time around with George Orr dreames taking reality with no one but him knowing the better. Along comes Dr. Haber who learns of Orr's secret and trys to make the world a better place at least for him anyway. Its this fasinating story that makes this tv movie watchable. Why couldnt A&E come up somthing a little more original?
