D7-class battle cruiser

The workhorse of the Klingon imperial fleet in the 2260s and the predecessor to the K't'inga class. Koloth's ship was the I.K.S. Gr'oth.

Daedalus-class starship

One of the United Federation of Planets' first starship designs commissioned and operated under its auspices, inaugurated soon after UFP formation in 2161 and retired in 2196. It was among the first starships to demonstrate the primary/secondary hull and warp nacelle designs which later became a characteristic of Starfleet vessels. Destroyed in 2167 at Mab-Bu VI, the U.S.S. Essex was a Daedalus-class starship. It is possible that the U.S.S. Horizon as well as the U.S.S. Archon also belonged to this class. A model of the design was displayed in Benjamin Sisko's office on Deep Space Nine.

Danube-class runabout starship

A generic terminology for the small, warp-capable Federation starships used for short-range missions — actually of the Danube class, first put into service in 2367. With seating for four people, aft-section living accommodations including bunks and food replicators, and a two-person transporter, the runabout was capable of more protracted missions than a standard Federation shuttlecraft or shuttlepod. The mid-section of the runabout was a detachable module, capable of being replaced for different types of missions. An unidentified ship of this class ferried Captain Picard, Lieutenant Commander Data, Geordi and Counselor Troi back to the Starship Enterprise to find it temporally frozen alongside a Romulan warbird on stardate 46682.4.

In 2369, the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Enterprise off-loaded three runabouts to the space station Deep Space Nine. Runabouts posted at DS9 to date: U.S.S. Ganges, U.S.S. Orinoco, U.S.S. Rio Grande, U.S.S. Yangtzee Kiang, U.S.S. Mekong, U.S.S. Volga, U.S.S. Rubicon, U.S.S. Yukon and the U.S.S. Shenandoah.

Deep Space Five

Federation space station. Deep Space Five alerted Starfleet to the impending Borg invasion in 2373, after the Borg destroyed the Federation colony on Ivor Prime. The station was also the object of covert surveillance by the Cardassians in an alternate quantum reality visited by Worf in 2370.

Deep Space Four

Federation space station. Captain Picard's old archaeology professor, Richard Galen, hoped to board an Al-Leyan transport ship to Caere at Deep Space Four in order to continue his pursuit of knowledge about the first humanoids to live in the Milky Way galaxy.

Deep Space Nine

Previously called by its original creators "Terok Nor," this old Cardassian mining station orbiting the planet of Bajor was built in 2351 and abandoned 18 years later as the Cardassian occupation of Bajor came to a close and the Cardassian retreated from the system.

Soon after, at the request of the Bajoran provisional government, Starfleet assumed command of Deep Space Nine and gave it a Starfleet designation. When the Bajoran wormhole was discovered nearby, linking the Bajoran system to the Gamma Quadrant, what had once been a backwater station became a bustling hub of commercial, scientific, and strategic significance, reflecting Bajor's new-found independence and strength within the Alpha Quadrant.

The station was briefly overrun by a Dominion occupation force featuring Cardassian troops in 2373-74.

Deep Space Station K-7

A 22nd century civilian Federation outpost near Sherman's Planet, also located only one parsec from a nearby Klingon outpost. In 2267, a Federation development project for Sherman's Planet was in jeopardy when approximately 1,771,561 tribbles infested the storage bins of quadrotriticale intended for the project, later found poisoned by Klingon agents.

Deep Space Three

Federation space station, commanded by Admiral Marcus Holt. The U.S.S. Hera disappeared in 2370, shortly after leaving Deep Space Three on a routine courier mission.

Delta Flyer

A unique, technologically advanced shuttlecraft designed to withstand the atmosphere of a gas giant. Conceived by Tom Paris as a 24th-Century "hot rod," the Delta Flyer's design and construction was a collaborative effort among Voyager crew members, and represents their diverse backgrounds. It features ultra-aerodynamic contours, retractable nacelles, parametallic hull plating, a tetraburnium alloy hull, unimatrix shielding, and Borg-inspired weapons systems including photonic missiles. Duranium construction in its hull makes the craft especially robust under extreme conditions. Paris gave the high-tech machine an old-fashioned touch by incorporating ancient control levers and meters inspired by his "Captain Proton" holodeck program.

The Delta Flyer's first mission was to retrieve an advanced multispatial probe from within a gas giant before it could be captured by the Malon. The Flyer was a crucial extension of the U.S.S. Voyager's capabilities for almost two years, until it was destroyed in late 2376 during an assault upon a Borg cube.

The Delta Flyer was rebuilt in early 2377, and the new vessel was put to the test very quickly by being entered in the Antarian Trans-stellar Rally. The Flyer did not win the race, which turned out to be fortunate, since the vessel was sabotaged to explode at the finish line. Once the sabotage was discovered, the warp core was ejected in a nebula to contain the explosion, and the ship survived the incident. Before the Flyer could be refitted with a new warp core, however, the ship provided a "romantic getaway" for newlyweds Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres.

droid starfighter

The effectiveness of droid starfighters has been argued in strategic circles for generations. While droid starfighters are capable of maneuvers that would pulp even the sturdiest organic pilot, they lack the resourcefulness and cunning that living pilots bring into combat. During the Battle of Naboo the Trade Federation attempted to counter any shortcomings in their droid starfighter designs by dispatching them en masse. Swarms of the tiny fighters were launched from their battleship's cavernous hangars, attacking the small number of Naboo starfighters defending the planet.

Like the ground-based battle droid infantry, droid starfighters are controlled by the Trade Federation's Droid Control Ship. When not in flight, the droid starfighter can transform into a walking mode allowing them to be used in surface patrols.

DY-100

A late 20th century interplanetary vessel design built on Earth using nuclear powered engines and equipped with suspended-animation chambers for longer voyages during the pre-warp era, superceded by 2018 by designs with better sublight technology. The S.S. Botany Bay launched in 1996 was a DY-100 class ship.

DY-500

A sublight class ship of the 21st century, larger than the earlier DY-100 and in use for a century after being modified for early versions of warp drive. The S.S. Mariposa was of DY-500 class. Launched in 2123.
