This will take about 2-3 minutes to load on a dial-up connection, so you may want to read this positively spellbinding explanation of the game in the meantime.

Instructions

It's you! The most cunning thief in all of Mobius. No one is better suited to this mission. The objective of each stage is to collect all the goodies scattered about on the playfield. Sounds easy? Think again (I have a history of building especially difficult levels for games, and since this is my own game, well... be ready to mash some keys :) The Attack key results in a quick drumstick strike from Manic; limited range but extremely useful. The Special key uses whatever powerup you are carrying at the time (it does nothing if you have no powerup or are using a powerup already).

Enemies

A basic security drone. Lacking any real form of intelligence, or anything resembling intelligence, it will mindlessly hover in a straight line until it hits a wall, at which point it will turn left if it can. Keep your eye on them though; they have a tendency to sneak up on you. Whap it with your drumstick to make it go back the way it came.
A stationary turret. Although these never move, their blasts are quite speedy. It will fire toward you if you are horizontally or vertically aligned with it, so watch your step. One key weakness of the turret is that it can only have one blast on the screen at any given time; use this to your advantage to sneak past them while they reload.
Your average, every-day Robotnik made SWATbot. These guys are like a combo of a drone and a turret, with a (very) small measure of intelligence thrown in. They will head directly toward you wherever you are, but are not smart enough to negotiate the terrain if their path is blocked. If you pass in front of one, it will fire at you. Be careful, as those blasts can pass through walls and get you even if the bot itself is blocked. Lure them around a corner and smash 'em with your drumstick to disintegrate them (ok, so I was too lazy to draw a wrecked bot).
These sensors occupy Robotnik's command base in abundence. They're quick moving, but even less intelligent than drones, as they just bounce off walls back and forth. They make up for it in speed though, so be careful not to get trapped. If you smash the control box with your drumstick, the sensor beam will be disabled. Keep in mind though that the control box isn't always near the beam that it controls.

Objects

These are the goodies you are charged with recovering. There is no effective difference between the types, other than my breathtaking artisitc mastery (yeah right).
Doors such as this will be found throughout the playfields. Imprinted on them will be the number of hits that is required to open it. Striking the door with your drumstick will decrement the counter until it reaches zero, thereby opening the door.
This classic item needs no introduction. Sonic's speed shoes will give you a temporary burst of speed allowing you to negotiate dangerous obstacles with ease. Once you pick these up, press the Special key for a 5 second speed boost.
A less famous item is also at your disposal. Sonia's mirror will render you invisible for 5 seconds when you press the Special key (after having picked it up, of course). Turrets and SWATbots won't fire at you (SWATbots also won't be able to track you) and sensor beams won't detect you. Don't mistake this for invincibility though; you will still be caught if an enemy or blast touches you.

Other Info

Credits: This game was designed and programmed by me, Fester Blatz (which is easily inferred from the campy EGA style of the in-game art and the visciously difficult levels :) The plot and info screens are edited screen captures taken from the show itself. Thanks are in order for CjTails for testing it out and giving me the idea for the "PRESS Z" thing at the beginning of the levels (which relieves more than a little frustration on some of the harder ones).
Dedicated to: All my friends at Manic Panic. You rule! I hope you enjoy the game (the same goes for everyone out there in Internet-land).
