Yes, the food might not be as good as in Romania, but the
decision has been
made to finish shooting this epic in London and Scotland commencing
February
14th.
Approximately three weeks of first unit photography and two
weeks of second
unit photography to be shot. Impressive locations all around.
Assembled footage to date is terrific.

ATTENTION, ALL HIGHLANDER FANS!
Fall 2000 is slated as the projected release period
for the fourth Highlander film, Highlander:
Legacy, a movie that is highly anticipated by we, the
fans of this franchise. A film we all hope would
surpass its predecessors in quality and box office
results.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of factors that need
to be considered.
First of all is the HL fan base. It has been commonly
boasted by enthusiastic fans that we have a wide fan
base. The question that begs to be asked though is:
JUST HOW BIG IS THE HL FAN BASE? No one has a good
estimate of how many fans the franchise has, both the
films and TV series and, more importantly, if this
number is sufficient to produce box office grosses
that would guarantee a hit. If the last three movies
are any indication, then we are, sad to say, very few.
Secondly, we should consider publicity. As early as
1996, we have been eagerly awaiting any news about the
fourth film. Now that Highlander: Legacy is in
production, it is depressing to note, that with the
exception of CNN World Report, the World Wrestling
Federation, Variety, and special audience
publications like Xpose and SFX, there is
practically no publicity from the legitimate
entertainment press such as E! Entertainment and
Entertainment Tonight.
Considering these two factors, we have organized a
major project, hopefully, to gain the much-needed
media AND fan support for the movie. YES, this will
involve a letter writing campaign to various
publications and TV shows that would, hopefully,
convince the media that the film and its cast ARE
worth featuring.
In a previous correspondence with Mr. Bill Panzer, he
has expressed an interest in this undertaking and has
even informed us that this project could be started
around May, when the film is out of production.
It is our opinion, though, that we cannot wait till
May to act on this project.
However, unlike previous HL letter writing campaigns,
we have chosen to follow a more methodical course of
action that would involve three phases. The first
phase (to be conducted from March to April) involves a
survey that will be distributed to all existing online
HL lists, forums and clubs. The second phase will deal
with the actual letter writing campaign (from May up
to the week before the film’s release). The third
phase will begin when the movie is already in
theaters, and it’s simply to encourage fellow
moviegoers to watch the film (not a hard thing to do,
isn’t it? After all, many movies have gone on to
become box office hits through positive word-of-mouth
alone).
Obviously, though, we cannot do this without YOU.
At this point, we shall begin the first phase of this
project. As mentioned above, we shall be distributing
to all existing online HL lists, forums and fan clubs,
a survey for ALL HL fans to answer.
The objectives of this survey are as follows:
1) To have a good estimate of the actual size of the Highlander
fan base;
2) To determine the distribution of HL fans in the various
regions of the world where Highlander is being aired;
3) To determine if these numbers would ensure AT LEAST a Top
10 ranking and, AT THE MOST, a No. 1 placement for at least
two weeks in the box office charts, especially in the U.S.
4) To compile a list of TV shows/publications to be included
in the letter writing campaign.
With regards to No. 4 objective, we have already
compiled a list of U.S. based TV shows and
publications which will be subsequently posted in a
website for your reference one we implement the letter
writing campaign. For the benefit of European and
Asian (especially Japanese fans), we shall be
accepting suggestions of TV shows and publications in
these regions that should be included in our list. IT
WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED IF EUROPEAN/ASIAN FANS
COULD PROVIDE US WITH THE CONTACT ADDRESSES TO MAKE
OUR JOB EASIER.
Please be advised that although we are encouraging ALL
HL fans to participate in this survey, we are not
forcing people to participate if they do not want to.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? Quite simply WE LOVE
HIGHLANDER! It’s not because of any Pro-Panzer
sentimentality on our part. If it were not for the
existence of the HL franchise, we could not have met
and grown to love such characters as Duncan MacLeod,
Methos, etc. and the actors who portray them.
Somewhere along the line, many fans have forgotten
that our loyalties should lie with the franchise, and
not just to a single character/actor. We're
PRO-HIGHLANDER, and proud to say that!
We need to say something in advance, because we're already
anticipating feedback of this nature. Let us emphasize
that NO ONE is paying us to do this project. This is
purely a labor of love for a franchise that means a
lot to us. To be frank, we both have real lives, but
still we choose to do this, simply because we believe
in Highlander and, in this way, we are showing our
support for the franchise.
If there are like-minded individuals, then PLEASE help us
in this endeavor. At this point in time, let me state that
we are NOT guaranteeing positive results. But we would like
to TRY to have the fourth Highlander film achieve a greater
measure of success than its predecessors. And we MIGHT just
be able to do it WITH YOUR SUPPORT.
