La Femme Nikita was a show on the channel USA from January 1997 to February 2001. Section One, a clandestine anti-terrorist organization, fakes the death of a jailed, convicted murderer and, believing her twin assets of beauty and ability to kill will make her a valuable new operative, trains her in the fighting skills necessary to succeed in her new job. The new operative, code-named 'Josephine', proves to be somewhat less ruthless than planned, however, as she had been falsely convicted and never murdered anyone. The key characters in this show are Michael, Nikita's trainer and lover, Nikita, Birkoff the computers expert, Walter the resident weapons hotshot, Operations who runs the Section, and his second in command, Madeline. The show was revolutionary. I don't ever remember a show dealing with such betrayal, terrorist themes, in such an amazingly smart way. The cast was stellar. The writing inspired, kept you on your toes, and it never got boring. The plots were edgy and kept many fans (including me) on the edge of the sofa every Sunday night at 10pm. One of the most amazing things about the show is that it used one camera to shoot the entire series, every episode for four and a half years. Needless to say the show soon drew a cult following. Fanfiction, fiction a writer composes about a particular show, flew across the internet and soon there were archives of LFN fanfic. I tried by hand at writing for the first time.
