It appears that while all of the Republic Commandos have individualized armor, a lot of squad commanders seem to pick the same design, only with a different color. To get the unique purpley/blue color that Niner chose, I first used a purple paint marker, and then went over it with a dark blue Sharpie. Since the ink is transparent (and usually mixes in with the paint anyway) it came out rather well.
