RGB hit the airwaves in 1986...making mince-meat of all other shows at the time! The show was extremely popular with children (and some adults), but its high ratings were temporarily halted when it was considered too violent for children. So it ended in 1988, but then continued shortly there-after with Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters, an hour block featuring episodes of the new Slimer! cartoon plus brand new episodes of The Real GB! RGB would've continued dominating Saturday mornings...except for the fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a phenomenon in 1987, ruling the children's television ratings up until 1994. The RGB lasted until 1991.

Summary:
