Our Illustrious Leader.....
and Grand High Poobah!!
The U.S.S. Columbia is a chapter of STARFLEET, the International
Star Trek Fan Association, and a member of STARFLEET Region
One (The First Fleet). Proudly home-ported in Wooster, Ohio, the
Columbia serves the Wayne/Medina county area. Meetings are held
on the last Friday of every month, at 7:30 PM, at the Wayne County
Public Library Main Branch (on the corner of Market and Larwill
streets in downtown Wooster). Guests are welcome and, in fact,
encouraged.
Now that you know What we are, and Where we are (meet), it's
time to get to the more important aspect- Who We Are!
We are a group of people with many diverse
interests, goals, attitudes and strengths who have
been fortunate to have been brought together by two strong Desires.
These would be our love of Science Fiction & Fantasy,
and the Joy of Friendship!

Besides attending Columbia meetings, our group
also celebrates our Friendships and interests by
attending and sometimes staffing CONS .
These conventions are almost always genre related;
Sci-fi/Fantasy, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Comic Cons.
We celebrate our fandom by perusing the dealers' wares,
{for Mucho Needed (and KEWL) Collector's Items}
meeting favoried celebs, (and getting autographs),
listening or participating in Discussion Panels,
Dressing up in Costume, laughing at Costumes, Slobbering
over Costumers...(etc, etc Etc....), Dancing all night
at the Con Dances, Singing, rioting....
and don't forget the all important:
Getting Hammered at Room Parties!!

DRAGONCON!
Unfortunatly, I do not have any kewl photo's of this Con,
which was held this summer in Atlanta, GA. Some of us
crew members had prior commitments and engagements, not
to mention the lack of Monetary Funds (ACK!)
For those of the Columbia who DID get to attend DragonCon
this year..... PHOOOOIEEE! ;)

attended this Exciting Convention this past weekend,

We all had a great time, although we are Still Re..Recovering
{Yawn....Creak of Muscles, gulp down some Advil}
Mid-Ohio Con! The Columbia Gang
will attend and assist with Staffing this Upcoming CON
the Holiday weekend of Thanksgiving in Columbus, Ohio.

I will NOT forget the Advil this Time! ;)
Besides attending conventions and Columbia Meetings,
our group likes to hang out, visit and in general- Have Fun!
Usually after our meetings, we have non-planned activities
{meaning we usually vote on what we're going to do that night}
More than likely, these after meeting activities include
Procurring FOOD. After that, it's wherever the wind,
the weather and our Wallets Take us.
In the summer months, these activities were usually
of the Golf, Go-Carts & Lazer tag variety, with the inevitable
movie thrown in once in awhile.
Now that the summer months, and the warm weather is behind
us, it seems our group has decided to spend much of it's
time at the local Lanes. Bowling, that is.
Well, besides the weather, a lot of us on the Columbia
are Bowling Fanatics!
Other parts of our time are spent haunting
Comic book shops and Bookstores, namely:
Ground Zero Comics in Strongsville, Ohio &
Borders !
We all like different things, but the great thing is...
we all share our interests by trading books,
comics, video's, games and even stories!
We all have a lot of fun
and really appreciate each other's company, care,
diversity, and the chance to share, in short-
being a rather warm, close-knit group of Friends!
