Night Relics is a sort of modern ghost story about the southern California area. It features a corrupt business man, a demented pervert business man, and the protagonists, who are pretty normal.

This is my least favorite James Blaylock book. That doesn't mean I didn't like it, because I still think his writing, including this piece outshine most other modern writers, but there was something about it that bothered me. Perhaps it was the main characters. I found them slightly two dimensional, sort of just there to tell the ghost story. I'd say, if you're going to pick up one of Blaylock's books, save this one for later and read The Last Coin or The Digging Leviathan first.
