Chapter twenty-eight
I turned and I ran, I ran for the exit, past the dead bodies, the wounded people and aliens, the blood spraying out from fatal wounds. Cries of people calling for children, and parents. Past the guns firing, past the huge purple tank, past the blue lights to the door.
And I stopped. My own mother was aiming a gun at me!
"Filthy Triumphernt trash!" She yelled in a voice I'd never heard her use.
I wanted to yell that I was her own son, but that would mean the end of the hope that I could save her.
"Who are you?" My mom asked.
[We are the Five United.] I replied out of the blue.
"Well the Five United will fall, and the Nox will win! And there's nothing that you can do to stop us!" She yelled.
I couldn't kill my own mother, yet she was aiming a gun at my head.
I turned and grabbed a wooden board and hit my mom on the head. She sank to the floor. She wasn't dead, just knocked out.
I turned to see Phoenix had Ice cornered.
[Your death will be my pleasure!] Phoenix yelled.
"You can't kill me!" Ice yelled.
[Wanna bet!?] Phoenix shot back.
"This world will be ours! The Triumphernt destroyed my home, my family, and no I have come to reclaim what is rightfully mine!" Ice yelled scooting farther into her corner.
Phoenix kicked her feet out from under Ice.
"I need this world! I wish to take revenge upon the Triumphent! He killed my father!" Ice
yelled.
[And yet you kill innocent people's fathers for your own personal gain, and for that you
are to be killed.] Phoenix said calmly as she raised her knife.
And in a split second, she had stabbed her knife into Ices shoulder!
Ice moaned and cursed, suddenly she was gone, like as in she was there, and then she wasn't.
[Where did she go?!] Phoenix yelled in rage as she held her bloodstained knife, she was
trembling.
"It would be best if we were to leave in a short time." D said as he walked over to the
computers and started to work.
[D, we are going to blow this place up.] Phoenix said suddenly.
"We are?" D asked looking at me.
[With sufficient warning, I think that we should.] I replied.
"Computer! Activate system self destruction sequins now!" D commanded.
Access denied, you will need a password. The computer informed him.
[What's that wire?] Phoenix asked as she pointed at a blue wire in the computer.
"That is the wire that controls the self-destruct panel." D replied.
[Good.] Phoenix replied as she pulled the blue wire out.
"Whatever did you do that for?!" D yelled.
This computer will self destruct in one minuet. The computer blared.
"That will do." D said as he activated the portal to the danger room.
We went through the portal, as we heard people running and screaming, hopefully they would get out alive.
Hopefully.
Back into the danger room.
We all powered down, and again we were all dark faced and lost.
"I could have killed her." Phoenix said after a few minutes of total silence.
"I'm glad that you didn't." Brooke said as she hugged her friend.
"I'm not. I wanted her dead in the worst way, and yet I just couldn't pry myself to do it." She said and clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
"Maybe there was a reason." Christopher said as her hugged her tight.
"Yeah." She mumbled as she hugged him back.
"I am now sure that you humans will save this planet." D said with a grin. "With friendship like that, and your fighting skills, you are sure to win."
"No we won't be able to do." I replied.
Everyone turned to me and just stared.
"Not without you D." I said finally.
He smiled at me and said, "you are a true friend and leader."
