Chapter Twenty-one

We found a boarded up window, and Brooke asked, "how will we get in?"

"We boys will smash the wood!" Christopher cried as he backed up and made a run for it.

And of course I made a run for it too, and we both slammed our shoulders on the window.

"YOW!" Christopher and I yelled simultaneously.

"That was stupid," Phoenix said, as she held out her hand to help Christopher up.

D do you think that you could take the nails out?" Brooke asked D when she was sure that I was okay.

"Yes, I can." D replied and he started to pull the nails out of the wood.

He could just pull and the nails would come right out.

When the wood was gone, we were left with a glass door, so D pulled it right off.

"Someone give me a hand," Brooke said as she attempted to get into the window.

"I'll help," I replied.

I climbed in first, and then helped her into the window, it was one of those really big old windows, like maybe four or five ft. high.

We headed for the back of the house, or really the front. The one the farthest from the back window that was missing.

"Where do we sleep?" Phoenix asked looking around the big carpet room in which we were.

"On the floor." I replied, guessing that there weren't any beds around.

"On the floor?" Phoenix echoed looking very amazed.

"Well it's better then the streets." Brooke said, looking down at the dirty, old smelly, stinky, gross carpet.

"On the floor," Phoenix repeated looking at it like it was alive.

"Let's get some sleep." I said yawing and sitting down on the floor.

"Eeeew! This carpet smells like the toilet!" Christopher cried after he had laid down on it. "I will stand guard." D suggested, is an android after all.

It was really dark in the room, and yet I couldn't sleep.

"Ryan are you asleep?" Brooke asked, from some were in the room, I think that she was near Phoenix.

"Yes," I replied sarcastically.

"Ryan, sleep, just think about your mom and dad, think about the good times you had together."

Brooke said, I tried it and, I guess it worked.

Chapter Twenty-two

Breathing, panting, running.

Running through a long, wet, and very dark tunnel.

I tripped and fell face down in the cold water, I didn't want to get up. I didn't want to go any farther, to take another step, or breath.

I wanted to stop right then, to let it end there, to give up.

"THE FIVE UNITED" Boomed a voice.

Somehow I knew what that was, it reminded me of my friends and I, five people united, to save the world.

I stood up and . . . "Ryan! We gotta go!" Phoenix yelled as she shook me.

"It was a dream." I said with a sigh, but not really a sigh of relief.

I felt my wet hair, very wet hair.

"What dream?" Brooke asked, as she knelt down next to me and felt my forehead.

It was raining, I could hear it, feel it, and smell it.

"We need to leave," Phoenix urged.

"She is correct. We must save your people." D agreed.

"Okay, yeah. They won't get our parents." I said as I remembered what we were there for. We climbed out of the window, out into the rain.

Five teens, walking through the rain it was cold and wet, I was shivering, but that's not what was bothering me.

What if I can't save my mom and dad? What if I can't save Phoenix's dad? What if I can't even save my friends? Is what I kept asking myself.

"Oh great! Guards!" Phoenix yelled as she got near to the hotel.

"Okay, let me see, D you are to make a diversion, and the rest of us just have to get in." I

ordered.

"What do you wish that I do to make the diversion?" D asked.

Christopher whispered something in his ear, and Christopher couldn't stop laughing.

"Everyone ready?" I asked my friends, but I wasn't ready.

"Let's go!" Phoenix yelled.

D walked over to where the guards were, and he pulled down his pants, and started to moon the guards!

"That's what you told him to do?!" I yelped.

"Yeah, it got their attention at least." Christopher replied with a giggle.

"Hey kid!" One man shouted and thumped off after him, the other guy was close behind.

D had his pants on and was running down the block.

"Go now!" I yelled and we all ran through the doors into the doors into the hotel.

The hall was bright and buzzing with and people.

D met with us a few minutes later.

"Back so soon?" Christopher asked.

"The humans that were chasing me, were very out of shape." D replied and laughed.

I listened, and heard the building grow silent.

"Over there, the room on the left," D said.

We carefully and quietly snuck into the back of the room.

A woman standing behind a podium spoke, "Humans! We have come together to make the

human race one world." A woman with jet black hair and ice blue eyes, said with a voice that

"My name is Ice, and we are here to welcome the new members." Ice said with a cold and clear voice.

"It is she!" D wisped while gritting his teeth.

"Who is she?" Brooke asked, putting her hand on his shoulder.

"She was the leader, her given Nox name is Thrae, it means ice, she was the one who saw to the destruction of my world, and my people." D said, his hologram eyes filling with tears.

"She's dead!" Phoenix said starting to fill with rage and hatred. "No one messes with my

friends, family, or my world." Phoenix said, her fist clenched.

"would Mr. Barry, Mrs., Nadia, Ms. Jasmine Mr. Ben, Mrs. Celine, Mr. Adam, Ms. Ana, and Mr. Chan. please step forward." Ice said.

"Let's get this party started!" Phoenix yelled, as she started for the bath room to change into her suite.

D had made us what looked like watches, but actually are a way for us to transform without having to be in the battle sector.

I punched in my code, and my suite appeared instead of my wet smelly clothes.

[Okay, you ready Christopher?] I asked as I adjusted my boots.

[No man. Never will be.] Christopher replied, with a shake of his head.

We ran through the bath room door, and out into the hall.

We met with the girls, and went back to the room we hade been before, and the people were gone. All of them.

[Where are my parents?] Phoenix asked, looking around at the room.

Where is everyone else?] Brooke asked.

[Yeah all mighty leader!] Christopher teased.

"Some sort of trap door is open." D said pointing over behind the podium.

[let's go down there!] Phoenix yelled.

And before I could say no, Phoenix had disappeared down the trap door into total

darkness.

[Phoenix!] Christopher yelled after her, and when he got no response, he went in after her.

[I can't see anything!] Phoenix reported.

"Then turn on our helmets light." D said simply.

[How?] Christopher asked.

"Just say action memory start number 375.'" D explained.

[Oh! Okay!] Phoenix chirped.

[After you.] I said to Brooke as I put my left arm out and made a slight bow.

[Yeah right!] Brooke laughed as she pushed ahead of her.

It was like being plunged into total darkness, but then I could activate the light in my helmet.

We started through the long tunnel.

[This place smells like crazy!] Christopher shouted.

And man was he right! It smelled, and it hade brown water up to my ankles.

The walls were dark, slimy and wet.

We trudged through the smelly water, until we came to a door, a blue door.

D started to type in number so fast that I couldn't ever tell what he was typing in.

The door did open for him, I almost hoped that it wouldn't.

The door led us into some small hall, that lead us to a very large room, one that could have been hell.

Screams of horror, echoed off the walls.
