Chapter 17

[I don't want to do this any more!] Brooke yelled.

[Too late!] Phoenix yelled as she took cover behind a tree.

The rest of us fanned out, the Caracara or Nox whoever fired! A blast of purple light and a tree was gone, as in it was there, and now it's not. Nothing of the tree was left!

The Caracara started to pile out of the ship, and one took aim at Brooke, she froze, and he fired.

[Oh Dominoes!] I yelled.

[No! What happened to her?!] Phoenix yelled.

[NO! This is just like laser tag, no one should get hurt! Let alone get killed! Something must have gone wrong!] Christopher yelled sinking behind a tree.

[Maybe, just maybe, when we were transported to the woods, it became real! Oh damn it! This has to me a dream!] I yelled.

I took aim and fired, but missed. I can't fight and wonder what happened to Brooke.

A tree right next to me exploded bits of fragmented tree hit me but I didn't feel them. I sank to the ground, heat from the guns made my head sweat, the smell of blood made me sick, and the sight of the carnage, made me dizzy.

Then suddenly the trees and ships and aliens disappeared and I was back in the white room.

And my suite was gone, I was starting to panic when D said," I have installed a clocking device in

this building, you don't need your suite unless you're fighting our out side of this building."

"What happened to Brooke?" I asked.

"I'm right here boy." Brooke said coming up behind me.

"Brooke, we thought you where dead!" I yelled turning around and hugging her tight.

"When she was shot with a laser she disappeared and was automatically transported to this room. I thought you would know that, you humans must be really behind." D said, now in his android form.

"That battle was so cool!" Phoenix yelled when she was sure that Brooke was all right.

"You did very well for your second time." D replied.

"But I didn't like how real that training was," Christopher said.

"If it were not realistic, then you would not be prepared for the real thing." D said flatly.

"So, tomorrow, we go and save the world," I said as I pushed the power button on my wrist, the one that activates the suites.

We said good bye and left for home, and this time we didn't run into any evil space aliens.

Chapter Eighteen

"Ryan! Mom said to get your ugly butt out of bed before you're late for school!" My older brother yelled from his own room.

I got up and got dressed, and ran down stairs to eat.

"Hi Ryan honey," my mom said as she poured my cereal.

"Why are you still home mom?" I asked.

"Well your father and I are going with Phoenix's mother and father to the One World Group!" My mom explained.

I stopped breathing, I gagged on my food.

"Ryan! Are you okay?" My mom said in panic.

"Sure," I managed to gasp. Grabbed some water and just drank that. "Um mom do you think that I could sleep over at Christopher to night?" I asked. "It is the weekend," I interjected.

"Well if you do all of your home work tomorrow, I don't see why not." When she was finished, I ran out the door.

I couldn't believe it. My own parents. Going to join the alien worms?

"Yo! Boy!" Phoenix yelled, and I jumped a mile.

"Yeah! Don't do that Phoenix!" I yelled.

"But that's how I always greet you boys." She replied, looking puzzled.

"Yeah, well now my mom and dad are going to the One World Group meeting to night." I replied.

"Yo! Yo! Homy wassup?" Christopher yelled giving me a slap on the back.

"Homie my old timers want to go be abducted by evil space aliens dudes, man." I replied in that really cool street slang that we like.

"Bummer." Christopher replied as he realized what I was saying.

"Here Ryan," Brooke said handing me Animorphs book #23, she had borrowed it from me last week.

"Thanks," I said shoved the book into my back pack.

"My mom's not going," Phoenix said as she did a cartwheel.

"But I thought that my mom said that she was going," I replied.

"She's sick, and insists that she has to stay home, she says that she has that feeling, and it's making her sick. She doesn't know what it is, but she still won't go any where." Phoenix replied.

"Well see you guys after school." I said as I walked into the high school building.

When school was over, we met on the beach to work on our home work. Yeah, home work. Just because we have to save the world, doesn't mean that we don't have home work.

It still wasn't warm enough to go swimming, but it was warm enough to sit on the beach and

work.

"I fell a sleep in History, but anyone got notes?" Christopher asked.

"What are notes?" D asked.

"The things you write down so you know what you have to do for home work." Phoenix replied as she handed her notes to Christopher.

We worked for about two hours.

"Is everyone sleeping at someone else's house?" I asked as we ate our snakes.

"I'm sleeping at Brookes," phoenix said as she flipped through and Teen' magazine.

"Ryan I'm at your house and my mom and dad said to get lots of sleep." Christopher said with a laugh.

"My mom said that if I wasn't any trouble that I could sleep over at Phoenix's." Brooke said, as she leaned over and looked at Phoenix's magazine.

"And my mom said I could sleep over Christopher. Then it's settled. We're going to night." I said, and even then I regretted saying that.
