Chapter Sixteen
For about a day we just chilled, but then Thursday D said that we needed to prepare for
battle, and that meant practice. Lots of practice.
So we met in Phoenix's basement again, and typed in our codes, and were in.
"Ryan do you see that building?" D asked pointing at a building with a pink dome.
[Yeah, I see it, ] I replied.
[Let's go!] Phoenix yelled.
"The building is a danger room, and you will be able to train in there." D replied.
As we walked to the building I asked, [D can the Nox see you?]
"No they cannot. I have a clocking device built in." D replied.
When we got to the danger room door, D started to type numbers in, 9-0-7-2-6-6-0
"Access proved you may now enter The Danger Room thank you and have a nice and safe
day." The computer said.
[That's so cool, I've never heard the computer say that!] Brooke said rather pleased.
"I just added that to the system, it's what my computers would say to us." D replied.
We walked into the room, I had three really white walls, and a computer control pad in front of a glass wall, and behind a glass wall was a really large white room.
"Okay the only host that the Nox have that are really any good in a fight is the Caracara." D explained.
[Are the Caracaras like really big lizards?] I asked.
"In human terms, yes." D replied. "Here are your guns, you are to go into the danger room and Waite for the holograms to appear, then you start." D explained.
I nodded yes and D pushed a button on the control pad, and the door to the glass room opened.
We walked in and I said, [ready?]
[Oh yeah, ] Phoenix said as the room filled with holograms.
They looked just like the lizards that we hade fought the last time.
One hologram growled and took aim at me. I aimed and fired! Seeeeeeeeeeeeer!' a
blast of bright orange light hit the hologram right in the leg, the part I didn't like was the fact that
it was all so real. Part of the Caracara's leg disappeared, and he had a bloody stump, and it
howled in pain, "rowel!" It cried, and suddenly I felt really scared, I started to shake as I
remembered my first battle.
SEEEEEEEEEEEEER!' A flash of blue light flew over my helmet, and I dropped to the floor and my head went thunk it hit the floor.
I got back on my feet and one of the Caracara came right at me! Its foot steps shook the room, as it came close, I ran and summer salted under the Caracara and shot him in the back!
[You go Ryan!] Christopher yelled from across the room, he was busy firing at the Caracara in front of him.
Phoenix pulled a knife from the holder on the side of her leg, and she used it to tab the Caracara hologram she stabbed him right in the side, and purple ooze squirted out of him. And he cried in pain, "rowel!" He cried and sank to the floor, Phoenix then shot him in the head.
[Wow Phoenix, don't you think that what you did was a little much?] I asked.
[You have to act like this is real, this is what we have to prepare for, I shot him in the head to make him die faster. It's only human.] Phoenix replied coldly.
But the time to talk was up, because now the Caracara had space ships! The scenery
chanced and we were now in the woods.
