Chapter Fourteen
"That boy is in his under wear in the mall!" Phoenix whispered.
"Yo! Dude! Wassup with the boxer trend?" Christopher asked.
"I am looking for four kids who know the secret'" The kid replied.
"What secret?" I asked, hoping that this guy didn't know who and what we were.
"I don't remember where they keep the deodorant man." Christopher said helpfully.
"Come we go to the woods and I will explain who and what I am." It replied.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Brooke asked.
"We can't, but we just have to hope he's on our side." Phoenix replied.
"So right, you must trust me, I can help you." He replied.
"Okay, let's go." I said, this is the part I hate the most, the making decisions that could get us all killed, but someone has to make them.
As we walked to the woods, I asked, "what is your name?"
"My name?" The guy asked.
"Yeah, your name," I replied.
"My human name is donut." He replied.
"Say what?!" Christopher said, laughing.
"But I am not a human, I am an android, a race called the 30bit EPP. My real name is
DBASE 5.5." He replied.
"What are you talking about kid?" I asked, hoping that he was just fooling around.
"We are at the woods now." He replied, and sure enough, we were in the woods. "My name is Ryan," I told the nuts kid.
"I'm Phoenix."
"My name's Brooke."
"Da names' Christopher."
"Now I will explain who, and what I am." DBASE 5.5 replied. "I will start at the beginning.
We, or now just I, were created by a race called the Memorex. They made us to help them build their homes, and their toys.
They mostly liked to play games, like rolling in the grass, and playing games with balls, and our work day lasted one hour, and the rest of the time they played with us.
We never able to kill or harm anything, since the Memorex never made war.
But then the Nox came, and tried to enslave my people, but they thought that all those years of playing rotted the brains of my creators, so they simply destroyed my creators, and all but I was blown to dust.
I came here to Earth, and I was told by the Triumphernt that I could find you at what humans call them destroy my people, and my creators,
have you any idea what that is like?" He asked.
"No, but I have seen what happens when a human resisted." I said.
"Do not be afraid," DBASE 5.5 said as his body began to shimmer and fade. Then it was gone, and what was left was like a robot, only it was like a skeleton, only a very shiny metal. And his eyes were the deepest blue, and they shimmered, and swirled.
"Look at his eyes!" Phoenix yelped.
"yes my eyes, they are the color of the sky on my planet, or the color it was." DBASE 5.5 said, with what sounded like sadness, but robots can't have feelings, can they?
"Hey can we call you D?" Christopher asked.
"Why, yes if you wish." He replied.
"You want to come with us Friday to the secret meeting of the Nox?" I asked.
"Yes, I will." He replied.
"Were you the one who crashed the computer and set the fires?" Brooke asked D.
"Why, yes." He replied. "How did you guess that?" D asked.
"I just thought it was done deliberately." Brooke admitted.
"My dad has to leave at six o'clock PM Friday, so that means we have to leave early too."
Phoenix informed us.
"Okay, everybody makes plans to sleep over at each other houses, Christopher at mine, and me at Christopher, Brooke at Phoenix's, and Phoenix at Brookes.
We then leave at seven for Washington, D.C. we'll take the bus, got it?" I asked.
They all nodded their heads.
"And now I have to get home guys, see you later." I said heading out of the woods. I had a lot to think about, and no time to do it.
