Chapter Thirteen
We walked into the nice and cool air-conditioned mall.
"Where do we go first?" I asked looking around at the mall.
You know, lots of people, all united for one purpose, to shop.
"How about The Wall'?" Phoenix asked.
"Why would we want to go to The Wall'?" Christopher asked laughing.
"Why not?" Phoenix shot back shrugging.
"Fine we go to The Wall.'" Christopher said, looking like he had won.
After we shopped at The Wall,' we headed over to The Food Court' to get something to eat.
"What do you want to eat?" Christopher asked Phoenix.
"Salad, and a diet Coke." She replied with a smile.
"I'll have the same." Brooke said.
"And I'm the one who has to get it right?" I asked.
"Would you please?" She said with that smile, you what I mean, like how some people have that smile that you just can't resist.
Well Brooke has one of those smiles, well for me she does, Christopher on the other hand, well
that's another story.
"Okay I'll get your food, save me my seat, okay?" I asked with a charming smile.
"Sure Ryan, anything for you." She replied.
I got in line, just my luck I was behind Christopher.
"Anything for you Ryan." Christopher mocked batting his eyes.
"Hey, you're the one drooling all over Phoenix." I shot back.
"Oh Chris!" Yelled a familiar voice, one belonging to Bernadette.
"Oh no! Hide me Ryan!" Christopher yelped.
"Chris! You want to have dinner with me?" Bernadette asked, walking over to us.
"Nah. I gotta eat with my friends." Christopher replied.
"Oh, well maybe another time right?" Bernadette, said, her face drooping. "I guess I'll have to eat all by myself." She said with a sigh. "All alone."
"Right." Christopher replied, not even paying attention to what she was saying.
"One salad, a cheese burger, a taco, a hot dog, one medium diet Coke, and one Super large Pepsi." Christopher told the cashier.
Now it was my turn, "one salad, one taco, one medium diet Coke, and one large Sprite."
We took our food over to our seats and sat down.
"Christopher why did you order all that?" Phoenix asked sounding grossed out.
"I think that I thought that I needed all of it?" Christopher explained, thought his explanation was more of a question.
"Hi people." Bernadette said waving and running up to our table, followed by some guy.
"Everyone this is Jeff, Jeff this Everyone." Bernadette said with a smile.
"Who is she?" Jeff asked pointing to Phoenix.
"I am not she," Phoenix replied glaring at Jeff. "If you need to know my name is Phoenix."
"Oh whatever." Jeff replied rolling his eyes in different directions.
"Can we sit with you guys?" Bernadette asked, and before I could answer, she and Jeff were already sitting at our table.
Jeff sat down next Phoenix and started eating.
"So you kids all have dates for the dance right?" Bernadette asked.
"Well we really haven't had the time to worry about the dance." Brooke replied.
"We're all going wether or not we have dates, we've done it every dance." I explained.
"So Jeff where do you go to school?" Phoenix asked with a very polite, but fake smile.
"You know I don't really remember that! But who cares what school I go to? I just live at the mall, and look at hot babes." Jeff replied.
I have no idea where Bernadette got this guy, but he's like really insane.
"Have any of you ever thought about marriage?" Jeff said suddenly.
"I have! I have! I have!" Bernadette yelled raising her hand. "I'm going to get married to
Christopher Ralph and live in a mansion, and have a lot of money." Bernadette said, telling us how she planned to spend the rest of her life.
"I'm going to Marie someone from Bay Watch.'" Jeff replied, staring off into space.
"Okay this is not something that I really want to talk about right now." I said at last.
Just then Jeff leaned over to kiss Phoenix! I guess she realized what he was doing cause next thing he knew, he was on the floor. Phoenix pushed him backwards, so that he fell over in his chair!
"Get a life." Phoenix said stand with her arms crossed over her chest.
"This girl is wacked, I'm leaving, I don't need to date any psycho-babe!" Jeff said getting up and brushing his dirty clothes.
"Psycho! You calling me psycho?!" Phoenix said getting that silky voice, the one you don't want to hear.
Jeff left, and Bernadette went off to find another people that she wanted to bug.
"What a jerk." Phoenix said, finally sitting back down in her seat.
"Well he said that he lives at the mall, and he must have a really bad home life." Brooke said, trying to defend Jeff, she always does that, you know try to see both sides.
"Yeah well, he better just avoid me." Phoenix replied.
"Okay where too next?" I asked.
"How about Old Navy?" Phoenix asked.
"I guess," I replied.
So we headed for Old Navy' and on the way we passed some guy, about my age, in the mall in his boxers. Yeah his boxers and that's it.
