And my mom was waking me up for the fifth time. Today was is my last day of school and after today I'll be able to enjoy the summer.
Here's the bad news: today my step brother Leo is moving into my room. I don't like the kid or his father. His father happens to be my mothers fiancee.
Now to most kids getting a evil step family is about as bad as it could get. Not me.
Earth is under a silent attack and it would be easier if they were like the aliens from Mars Attacks at least that way we'd know where they were and I wouldn't have to be a teenage boy trying to save the world.
But I am.
I'm not saving the world from aliens with giant heads that can be blown up by grandma's music. These are purple slugs that are thin as pencils and about one foot long. They are called the Nox.
They have come to take over the world. They can infest humans, and other species by seeping through the pours in people's skin. Then they seep through the body and into the nerves, and take total control of that person.
The Nox have a group that they call The One World Group. In The One World Group the recruit adult humans into hosts. They do this by having meetings, sometimes even lavish trips to all kinds of places. We know this for a fact, we tailed some of my friends parents. And some of the trip turned out fatal for my girlfriend Phoenix's father. Phoenix's father, Ben, was shot by the evil Nox commander Ice.
The Nox also infested my best friend Ryan's parents.
The Nox have won some of the battles, but my friends and I have won a few our selves.
You see the Enemy of my enemy is my friend. The Nox have an enemy; the Triumpherent.
The Triumpherent is one or more beings, we have never been able to tell how many there are. He can be any where and every where, and no where.
The Triumpherent gave us the power to enter a battle ground, we've only used it once though. We have these leather like suites, they don't feel like leather, but they look like patent leather in a way. The suits have motor cycle like helmets, the helmets are computer like on the inside. With lights that only shines in the helmet, and stuff like Chat rooms, you can Private Message people, and you can use it in general chat. And we have leather like army boots, and lots of guns and knifes.
Now I guess I should tell you who my friends are.
Well first there's my girlfriend Phoenix. Phoenix is the most beautiful, daring, and understanding person in the whole world.
As for her looks, she's simply gorgeous. She has dark and silky hair that comes an inch or
two past her shoulders. Her brown eyes sparkle dangerously when she laughs.
Now on to her family. Her mom is now taking care of a family of six kids on her own. All thought her mother does have some help from her sister and brother-in-law.
I've known Phoenix since I was like one-year-old. But Phoenix and I have only just started going out this past few months.
Now I'll tell you about my best friend Ryan. Ryan has blond hair that comes to his ears and blue eyes. He lives with his mom and dad, older brother, and his pet fish Punk.
Ryan and I have a game we started playing when we were about eight and still play at our age: car racing. We love to turn on the TV and watch the cars race around the track. Some times we pretend that we are too racing in the race.
Now Brooke.
Brooke is Phoenix's best friend. She has chin length blond hair, and brown eyes. She's an only child, she lives with her mom and dad, and a pet ferret Keavy. She is a really sweet girl, always willing to help, but some times scared of making the wrong decisions.
Oh and let's not forget about me, Christopher. I have brown ear length hair and brown eyes. Right now I live with my mother Amber, who is a Vet.
My father died about two years ago. My dad, Lance died in a plane crash. He was on his way back from Africa where he had been taking care of a sick baby elephant.
My mom and dad met in Veterinarian school and I just always thought they would be together.
Now enough about me and on to our last member of our strange group; D.
D is an android. Yes Android.
D is from a race called the 30bit EPP. They were created by the Memorex. And the Memorex were destroyed by the Nox.
It was a senseless act, like just because you don't like the fact that your dog takes potty brakes on your floor, doesn't mean you have the right to beat him. The Memorex were sweet and gentle, they didn't even know what war was.
They had never killed to anyone's knowledge. The Nox didn't like them, and now all that is left is one lost android, his name is DBASE 5.5. But we prefer to call him D.
D helps us in our battle against the Nox. He knows a lot about computers, seeing that he is one.
He's made portal like things that we can use to hop from one place to another, he calls them
doors. But just because he's a android, doesn't mean he doesn't have a human body, the girls say
his human body is pretty cute, if you go for guys from outer space and all. He's got short brown
hair, and blue eyes.
"Time to get up." My mom warned.
"Ooh." I moaned.
I rolled over and opened my eyes. The fist thing I saw was my framed picture of my girlfriend Phoenix the picture on my night table was taken at Phoenix's singing recital. It has both Phoenix and I in it I've got my arms around her waist while standing behind her.
Any way, my mom was now pulling up my window's shades and I lay in my bed trying to a just to the light.
"Look!" My mom exclaimed cheerfully. "The U-Haul with all of Keith and Leo's stuff in it is here!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Isn't this just so wonderful?" My mom asked excitedly.
I didn't say anything instead I opened my drawer and pulled out a picture of my family the way it used to be-with my dad.
"Honey, please put that back." My mom said as she looked back out the window.
I didn't put the picture back. I put it beside my picture of Phoenix. Then I grabbed my school clothes and ran a comb through my hair. I quickly got dressed and headed down stairs.
I had to eat fast because Phoenix and I were going to walk to school together.
I walked into the kitchen to find Keith sitting my dad's old chair.
"Hey Chris!" Keith said as he put his coffee cup on the table.
I didn't reply.
I got out the milk and the orange juice from the refrigerator and put them down on the table. I opened the cabinet and took out a bowl, then I slammed the cabinet door shut.
BAM!
I could hear the dishes rattling after I had closed the door.
I pulled open the silver ware drawer almost spilling the content all over the floor. I pulled out the spoon I had wanted and then I slammed the drawer closed.
BAM!
I slammed down into my seat and poured myself some milk in my cereal.
"Hey Chris, could I have the milk?" Keith asked.
I walked the milk container over to the sink and poured the milk down the drain. I watched the white milk swirl down the drain and I heard the gargle of the drain.
Then I turned to Keith and said, "oops! No more milk."
Then I put the milk carton on the counter.
"Christopher!" My mother exclaimed.
I didn't say anything.
I went back to my breakfast. When I was done eating poured myself some orange juice.
"Could you pass the orange juice Chris?" Keith asked.
I made no move to hand it to him, if he wanted it he could get it on his own.
"Okay." Keith said as he reached over and got the juice.
"See now that wasn't that hard was it?" I said smugly.
"What's wrong with you today Chris?" Keith asked.
"Don't call me Chris." I replied coldly.
Only my dad or Phoenix is a lowed to call me Chris.
"Christopher, I need to call my X to find out when she's bringing your brother Leo. Could you get my cell phone for me?" Keith asked.
"Yeah I could." I replied. Then I sat there drinking my juice.
"Christopher?" Keith asked.
"I could get your cell phone, but would I?" I said with a smirk.
"Christopher you are supposed to be nice today." My mom said disappointed.
I stood up and grabbed the cell phone from the counter. I stomped back to the table and dropped the phone onto the table.
DING-DONG!
Rang the door bell.
"Phoenix!" I cried.
I ran to the door and flung it open.
"Hey Chris!" Phoenix said with a smile.
"Hey sweetie." I replied.
I slammed the front door closed and started down the walk way.
"Where did the U-HAUL come from?" Phoenix asked.
"It's full of Keith and Leo's stuff." I replied grimly.
"They're moving in already?" Phoenix asked surprised.
"Yeah."
"But your mom and Keith aren't married yet." Phoenix pointed out.
"Yeah, I know." I replied as I kicked a rock into the street.
"Phoenix walked along the curb as if it were a balancing beam. She hummed the familiar tune of, Roller Coaster.
"And today Leo's moving into my bed room." I groaned.
"Why does he have to stay in your room?" Phoenix asked.
"You know the lay out of my house. My mom's room next to mine, then the computer room is next to her room, and then there's the bathroom. Then there's the down stairs with the dinning room, the kitchen, livingroom and a bathroom. That's it. No other rooms."
We approached the school building and then went in.
We sat at our desks in the now hot class room.
I was glad we hadn't had too many snow days, this way we could get out of school early.
We were handed our summer reading assignments and that's about all I paid attention to.
My mind was in some other place just thinking about the mess my life was.
The bell rang and I jumped a mile.
I heard Ryan shout, "all right!" As he jumped up from his desk.
I laughed.
Everyone-including me- ran out of the room.
Brooke bumped into me and whispered, "D says there is a alien space ship nearing our planet. So be ready to fight at a moments notice."
I nodded.
"See ya Christopher!" My friend A.J. yelled as he left.
"Yeah see ya at the arcade." I yelled back.
On the way home I met up with Ryan.
"Hey Christopher. What's up?"
"Today Leo moves in." I replied.
"What are we going to do about our car racing?" Ryan asked.
"Well you could take 'em." I replied.
"Good idea, next time I come over I'll take 'em."
"Hey Chris." Phoenix said as she joined us on the walk home.
"Hey sweetie." I replied without thinking.
"Woo woo." Ryan said laughing.
I rolled my eyes.
I don't know why I care what he says. He sure saw me making out with Phoenix in the Nox's ship.
"I haven't seen you go out with Brooke yet." I said to Ryan.
"Now if I were to go out with Brooke you sure wouldn't see it." Ryan replied.
"Hey are you guys forgetting that I'm here?" Phoenix accused.
"Yeah I'm sorry Phoenix." I replied.
"Guys, to night we have to meet in the danger room." Ryan informed us.
"Okay. What time though?"
"Seven thirty." Ryan replied.
I nodded.
We passed Phoenix and Ryan's block.
"See ya." Ryan said as he walked down the street.
"Aren't you going the wrong direction?" I asked Phoenix.
"Not if I'm coming with you to your house." She replied.
"Phoenix, do you think you would like to come to the food court with me?" I asked.
"What day?"
"Would tomorrow work?" I asked .
"Sounds good to me."
"Six o'clock?" asked.
"It's a date." She replied gleefully.
I stepped up onto the stoop and noticed the U-HAUL was gone.
"Maybe Leo decided he didn't want to stay." I joked.
"Or maybe he saw your room."
I opened the front door and we went in.
"Mom! I'm home! And I'm taking Phoenix up to my room!" I yelled as Phoenix and I ran up the stairs.
"You're dong what?" My mom asked as she came into the hall.
I stopped and said, "I'm taking Phoenix to my room."
Keith came into the hall just as I said that.
"You let your son take girls to his room?" Keith asked amazed.
"Yes but Phoenix is just one of his friends." My mom replied.
Keith didn't look convinced.
"Why don't you go into the livingroom and introduce Leo to Phoenix. And I'll bring you all some iced tea." My mom suggested.
I sighed took Phoenix' hand, and went back down the stairs.
I lead Phoenix into the livingroom.
Leo's is my age, short blond hair, blue eyes, and a way to big ego.
He stood up as Phoenix and I came into the room.
"Phoenix this is Leo, Leo this is Phoenix." I introduced.
Hi." Phoenix said politely.
"My full name is Leonardo, you know, like Leonardo Di DiCaprio? Everyone says I look like him." Leo said with a smile.
"Oh well I prefer Christopher Ralph." Phoenix replied.
"Oh." Leo said as he smile faded.
"Let's take a seat." I said with a sigh.
Leo sat on the far end of the sofa.
"Phoenix, you can sit next to me." Leo said as he patted the middle seat on the sofa.
So Phoenix sat down in the middle and I sat next to her.
I opened my mouth to say something, but Leo cut me off.
"So phoenix, where do you live?" Leo asked Phoenix with a sneaky smile.
"Here with Chris most if the time." Phoenix replied with a giggle.
"She lives on the next block over." I said with a tolerant laugh.
"I brought some tea." My mom said as she walked in with a tray.
"Thanks mom." I grumbled.
"How's your mother?" My mom asked Phoenix.
"She's fine, especially now that she has her sister to talk to."
"How are you doing?" My mom asked her.
"I'm fine, talking alone with Chris really helps. It's easier to talk with him then any therapist because he's been though the same thing too. We have really become a lot closer." Phoenix said with a smile.
"Christopher, you and Leo need to work out your bed room arrangement." My mom said.
Keith walked in to the room and stood next to my mom.
"Can Phoenix help?" I asked not wanting Phoenix's visit to end.
"No, I really think that she should go home now. We need to be togther as a family." Keith replied.
I gritted my teeth. "But Phoenix is family." I complained.
"Not our family." Keith said.
"I'll walk her home." I said standing up.
"I can walk myself home." Phoenix said as she stood up.
Instead I walked her to the door where she and I were out of site.
"You going to be okay? I mean with your step family and all." Phoenix said as she put her arms around my neck.
"With our life? I'll be just fine."
Then we kissed.
I opened the door and watched as she walked down my walk way.
I rolled my eyes, cursed, and went up to my room.
There were boxes and furniture in my up stairs hall.
"You need to move your bed over toward the window, that way we'll have room for Leo's bed." My mom informed me.
I stepped into my room and noticed stuff was missing. My TV was gone and so were my video games.
I gritted my teeth again.
"I want you to help with the moving of the bed too Leo." Keith said before he and my mom left the room.
So much for a family thing.
I bent down next to my bed to see if I had anything under there, and sure enough, I have a box of video tapes that I had made with my video camera. I pulled the box out from under the bed and moved it to the closet.
"Could you help me move this bed?" I asked Leo.
He didn't say anything but helped my push the bed over.
Next was my night table. Leo just shoved the table over causing all of my photo's to fall onto the ground.
"Hey!" I yelled picking up my photo's and putting them on my bed.
"Who are those people?" Leo asked.
"One is of my dad, and the other's of me and my girlfriend Phoenix." I replied.
"Phoenix is your girlfriend?" Leo asked sounding surprised.
"Yeah."
After that we moved Leo's bed into my room. But the hardest thing was convincing my mom that I had to visit Ryan.
"Mom I'm going to Ryan's house okay?" I asked.
"Well we were planning to spend this evening as a family." My mom said slowly.
"Yeah but it's home work stuff." I wined.
"Oh okay." She replied.
I ran out of that house as if it were on fire.
When I got to Phoenix's house everyone was already waiting for me.
"Let go in, but be quiet, Dion has her boyfriend over and I'm not aloud to have anyone over today." Phoenix whispered.
We snuck in through back door and into Phoenix's kitchen. Then we headed into the basement and D quietly closed the door behind us.
"If my mom ever found out what we do down here she would kill me." Phoenix whispered.
"She might just put you in a mental hospital." I whispered back.
D put the computer door key on the wall of Phoenix's basement. Then he typed in the password that permits us to enter into the danger room.
What looks like a black door appeared covering the white paint of the wall. But the door look-a-like is really a portal leading to the world of the battle zone.
Ryan went through the portal first, then Phoenix and I went through next. Brooke and D soon fallowed.
The danger room has a training room where we can prepare for battle. We can also hack into computer, break codes, and do all that wonderful super hero stuff.
"I have been tracking a strange ship over the past day or so. This is not a Nox ship, but the origin of this ship is still unknown." D said as he pulled up the computer graphics satellite to show the ship in space.
The ship was shaped like a triangular nacho chip, and the ship was painted an odd shade purple.
"That thing's making me hungry." I complained.
"How long until it is on earth?" Ryan asked.
"Twenty four human hours." D replied.
"What do we do if they're not our friends?" Brooke asked.
"We'll have to kill them." Phoenix replied pointedly.
"Don't get all excited." I warned.
She smiled her daring smile and laughed.
"If they're not evil then we may be able to convince them that they should help us fight the Nox." Ryan suggested.
"Yeah that and circuses should be shut down if they have animal acts." I said shaking my head.
"Okay D, if they land, or are near to landing, you are to notify us at once." Ryan ordered.
"Yes I will." D said nodding.
"Time to go back to my family mess." I said with a sigh.
"Is it that bad?" Brooke asked kindly.
"Yes." I replied.
"Would you like to talk about it?" Brooke asked.
"No." I replied.
She nodded her head, I knew she would understand, she's really good about things like that.
I went back home, and as I said, back into a mess.
At eight o'clock, we sat down to the dinner that Keith had prepared for the family.
That night my mom told me to go to bed at eleven o'clock p.m. Any other night I would have stayed up until one or two.
That night as I lay sleepless in my bed because Leo snores, I wondered what my mom was doing. But I do know the answer, I just don't like to admit it.
I just stared up at the ceiling some what grateful that Leo snores, I could have been hearing other sounds.
My dreams were plagued with nightmares of being captured by the Nox, and ever worse, Phoenix being captured by the Nox.
My vision was bleared, but I could see the full moon high over head. The light shown onto the blackness of the ocean in the dark. The waves crashed upon the sandy shores.
I looked down at my hands, they were not the pale human flesh that you normally see. I had on black gloves.
I thought quickly, my suit! I was wearing my battle suit!
I looked around the beach wondering what I was wearing my suit for. I saw no one but me in the blackness of the night.
No! Wait! Phoenix!
I walked over to her. I was only a few feet away from herm when a bright light whipped thought the dead night air. The light was no bigger than a one liter bottle of seltzer. The light hit Phoenix in the stomach blood spued out from her body and onto the sand.
The dead silence of the night was shattered by Phoenix's cries of pain.
I tried to run to Phoenix's side, but I just couldn't.
My sobs seemed to echo off the ocean sending them back to me.
I sat up dripping wet and in my bed.
"It was a nightmare agin." I said to myself.
Saving the world also come with dreams the scare the h-e- double- hockey-sticks out of you.
And that morning I was enjoying just laying in my bed.
"Christopher! Are you out of bed yet?!" My mom yelled from down stairs.
"I'm a teenage boy! I don't get up before noon!" I yelled back and then pulled my covers over my head.
"Come on!" She yelled, not amused.
I got dressed and went down stairs hoping I wasn't in trouble for anything.
I walked in and Leo was sitting in my chair.
"Hey frozen boy, out of my chair." I growled.
Leo got out of my seat and I sat down in it.
"Sunday afternoon we plan to have our wedding." My mom said haply.
"It will be out in the backyard and the reception will be there also." Keith said.
"That's swell." I said sarcastically. "I'm going to the mall with my friends." I said grabbing a Break Fast Bar.
"I thought we could all go to the bach as a family." My mom said.
"Well you thought wrong." I replied.
"Don't talk to your mother like that young man or you will not be permitted to see your friends." Keith threatened.
"Look mom, you can re-marry, but this is not my family, Ryan is more my brother than Leo will ever be, and Keith will never be my father. This is your mess not mine." I said very cooly and slowly. "And Keith, you're not my dad and never will be, so cut the crape."
"Christopher!" My mom pleaded as I stormed past her.
I left the house before I said something Keith or my mom might regret.
I headed over to Phoenix's house suspecting that Ryan would call a meeting but not include me because of my mom's wedding plans.
On my way to Phoenix's house I passed Brooke.
"We weren't going to tell you about the meeting." Brooke said with a sigh. "How's it going?" She asked.
I didn't answer.
I knew she would understand and she did.
Ryan was already sitting on Phoenix's porch with her.
As Brooke and I approached the walk way Phoenix stood up.
"My mom's still asleep so we have to be quiet." Phoenix whispered as she opened the door.
"Sssh." I said as I tip-toed through kitchen. We crept over to the basement stairs and started down them.
"What are you doing in my house?" Phoenix's little sister Rachel asked.
I turned around to see her standing in front of the door.
"You're having a strange dream so go back to bed." I said as I closed the door.
Phoenix put the door key on the wall next to he washing machine. Phoenix then proceeded to type in the password, and the portal to the danger room appeared. Every time I step through the portal I worry that I will end up on some distant planet.
But this time we ended up in the danger room as we had hoped.
I looked up at the computer screen expecting to see an image of a ship in the dark desolateness that we humans call space. What I really saw was not a space ship, but a round, pink, and big eyed creature.
"D, is that some kind of alien?" Ryan asked amazed.
"It's Jigglypuff." D said nonchalantly. "I am watching a marvelous show call Pokémon." D said with his eyes glued to the screen.
"The smartest thing in the world is watching Pokémon." I said sighing.
"Now switching to the second screen we have the ship. It is now with in twelve hours of earth." D explained.
"Okay, thanks for the update." Ryan said.
"I gotta go." I said sighing deeply.
"Meet back here in twelve hours." Ryan instructed.
"Synchronize those watches boys and girls." I said before I stepped though the portal.
I returned to an empty house, just the way I liked it.
I sighed heavily and went up to my room. Not that's it's even my room anymore.
I picked up my phone and dialed Ryan's number. Ring, ring, ring.
"Hello?" Ryan's father answered the phone.
"Hi, is Ryan there?"
"No he is not." Ryan's father replied.
"Okay, thank you sir." I said as I sighed.
"No problem." He replied.
I hung up the phone and went into the computer room then booted my computer.
My mom had just gotten me Tomb Raider so I popped it into the CD-rom drive.
I've got just one comment, Lara Croft can kick butt.
I played for like half an hour and then the door bell rang. I went down stairs and opened the front door.
"Phoenix!" I exclaimed.
Hey Chris! Can I come in?" Phoenix asked.
"Sure, my family's out." I replied.
Phoenix walked into the house and I closed the door.
"Have you had lunch yet?" Phoenix asked.
No. Have you?" I replied.
"Nope, you want to order out?" Phoenix asked.
"Sure what do you want?" I asked.
"I'll order Chinese." she replied.
"Girl I'm not going to have any money left." I said laughing.
"I'll pay for lunch and you'll pay for dinner."
"Sound reasonable to me." I replied.
Phoenix and I went into the kitchen. Phoenix called the Chinese place and I got out the dishes.
"Hey, it feels like we're married already." Phoenix said with a giggle.
"Don't mention marriage, I'm a little sensitive about that right now." I replied with a laugh.
After lunch Phoenix and I went up to my room
"Wow they moved your whole room around." Phoenix said as she looked around the room.
"Well my bed's still in the room at least." I said with a sigh.
"You're family's not home right?" Phoenix asked smiling.
"Yeah they all went to the beach." I replied.
She quickly closed the door. And then she kissed me. Of course I kissed her back.
All in the end we ended up making out on my bed.
Suddenly the door was flung open and Leo came waling into my room.
Phoenix quickly jumped off my bed and folded her arm across her chest.
"All right man, this is going to get you into sooooo much trouble!" Leo said with a smirk. "Once I tell mom and dad you'll never be able to date Phoenix again."
"They won't know if you don't tell." I said.
"What would I get out of not telling on you two?" Leo asked with a leer.
"I won't beat the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of you!" Phoenix threatened.
"No girl could ever beat me up." Leo replied.
"Fine, I'll put in a good word for you with Bernadette." Phoenix said finally.
"Deal."
"Okay, now I better get going, see ya later Chris." Phoenix said then left.
Leo also left the room and I went on to reading my summer reading book.
"CHRISTOPHER!" My mom yelled.
"Uh-oh." I said to myself.
I went into the kitchen where my mom, Keith, and Leo were sitting.
"Sit." My mom growled.
I sat.
"What were you doing in your room with Phoenix?" She asked.
"Oh I just showed her what you guys did to my bed room" I replied.
"That's not what Leo said you were doing." My mom accused.
"We weren't doing anything!" I lied.
"No you guys were making out, and you even tried to bribe me!" Leo said with a smirk.
"CHRISTOPHER BRIAN YOU ARE GROUNDED!" My mom yelled.
"Go to your room." Keith added.
"You can't send me to my room Keith!" I argued.
"Yes he can, I want your butt in your room." My mom replied.
"I can't believe you!" I exclaimed.
"Just go to your room before I get really mad." My mother said cooly.
I left the kitchen and went up stairs. I slammed my bedroom door closed. Then I took out my
stupid summer reading book.
At 8:00 PM the phone rang. I grabbed the phone and said, "hello."
Christopher, gotta meet us at Phoenix's house. NOW." Ryan said then hung up.
Great. How am I going to get out? I asked myself. I looked the whole room over.
"Under the bed!" I yelled.
I pulled out the rope fire escape ladder that we had gotten when I was like 6. I opened the plastic bad and unfolded the ladder. Then I quietly opened the window and pulled up the window screen. And after I hooked the ladder to the window sill, I climbed down the ladder. I dropped down into the bushes. Then I ran down the block toward Phoenix's house.
I went around back when I saw that no one was on her front porch, sure enough they were all in her backyard.
"Come on!" Phoenix hissed.
Ryan and Brooke were already in the danger room and in their battle suits.
"What's the emergency?" I asked Ryan.
[That space ship we were trailing just crashed in the woods.] Ryan replied.
I nodded and powered up.
"Are you quit ready?" D asked us.
[Yes.] Ryan replied.
D nodded and put our computer key on the wall.
Our portal appeared and Ryan said, [I wonder what would happen if I dived head first into the portal?]
I shrugged and jumped through the portal. Ryan fallowed me-- head first.
Wumph!
He landed on his head. Then Phoenix jumped through and stepped right on him.
[Oof!] he yelped.
[ You idiot! What are you doing?!] Phoenix yelled.
[ Never mind.] Ryan replied.
Brooke and D came through the portal and then the portal disappeared.
"The ship should be in the area." D informed us.
[ And that's how far from here? ] I asked.
"Where that purple smoke is coming from I believe." D replied.
I looked up to see purple smoke billowing up from the trees.
[ Move out. ] Ryan ordered.
We trudged through the over grown brush of the woods.
As we neared the ship we came to the smoke. This smoke was quite different from our black, grey, or white smoke. This smoke was purple and you could see right through it.
[ Pull your guns out of the holsters.] Ryan instructed.
Once we were within about three feet of the ship it became clear who's ship it was.
[ Arlena! ] Phoenix exclaimed.
Sure enough, it was Arlena.
Arlena is an alien that was a slave until we set her free, long story.
[ What are you doing on earth? ] Brooke asked.
"The Nox have captured my good friend Rouen." Arlena replied. "I have come to get him back. Even if I must ask your for your help."
[ How many are on your ship? ] Ryan asked.
"Nine including myself." Arlena replied.
[ Can your people be infested? ] Phoenix asked.
"No, because we do not have pores in our skin, but they can take slaves as humans do. He is a regular slave, cleans the ship and does other things somewhat the same." She replied.
"What of your ship?" D asked.
"We suffered severe damage to the engine of the ship. It will take a few days to repair it."
[ Do you hear that? ] Phoenix asked.
When I listened I could hear a dull hum.
Round black ships cut through the trees and headed toward us.
[ The Nox! ] Phoenix yelled.
"Your guns men!" Arlena yelled.
The Nox's ships landed and the Caracara the infested slave of the Nox poured out into the woods.
Their horrid leader, Ice, stepped out of the ship.
"I will push the ship into the training center of the danger room." D said as he started to push the ship.
The all to familiar sound of laser beams passed all to close to me.
I aimed at the Nox's ship and fired!
Seeeeeer!
A large hole burned in the ship.
One of the Caracara charged at me.
I aimed at the Caracara and hit him right in the head. His non human blood oozed from his wound and spilled on the dead leaves on the ground.
I turned around and looked behind me expecting to see Phoenix. But she wasn't there.
I looked over where Ice was standing and giving out orders. There was where I spotted Phoenix.
Phoenix was about 12ft. Away from Ice. Phoenix took her gun from her holster and she fired!
Ice's right arm was now on fire!
"Ahhhgh!" Ice yelled in a mix of rage and pain. Ice rushed into the ship and suddenly all the Caracara marched back to the ships as if they were robots.
[ Where are they going? ] Brooke asked.
[ Without Ice they have no one to push they around. ] Phoenix replied as she came up behind us.
[ Okay everyone, back to the danger room.] Ryan instructed.
We went through the portal along with our alien friends.
We powered down once we were in the danger room.
"I have found the location of your friend, Arlena." D said.
"That is marvelous!" Arlena exclaimed.
Then Phoenix started to talk with Arlena. It was strange because Phoenix was acting as if Arlena was one of the girls in her clique. It was almost hard to believe that Arlena was an alien.
D had been working on how the battle zone works, it works a lot the a video game. Bye typing in certain letters and numbers you can 'call up' different weapons.
"You must leave at once it if you wish to save the young male." D said.
"Let's go for it!" Phoenix yelled.
"It's morphn' time!" I said joking.
"I'm the red Power Ranger!" Ryan said has he powered up.
"I have set the computer so that you will enter into the jail where the young alien is being held." D informed us.
[ Everyone ready to go? ] Ryan asked.
Arlena and her friends nodded.
Ryan leapt through the portal and I fallowed him in. When I came through the portal I slammed my head into the metal bars of the a jail cell.
[ Good thing we wear helmets. ] Ryan said dryly.
Everyone else fallowed and slammed into Ryan and I.
[ Oh great, we ended up stuck in jail.] Brooke said with a sigh.
Phoenix aimed her gun at the bars and slowly melted the bars to a puddle of grey mush.
[ How'd you do that?] Ryan asked Phoenix.
[ Duh. I set the gun on 'low.'] Phoenix replied grumpily.
[Okay break up into groups of three except for one group that will have four people.] Ryan instructed.
I was grouped with Ryan and Arlena.
I looked around at all the other aliens that were locked behind bars. Arlena did not take the time to look around, instead she walked swiftly through the hall.
"He was last seen occupying cell number 347." Arlena whispered.
[ Well we're in the five hundreds so we better head the other way.] Ryan said as he turned around.
A lot of four hundred cells were filled with blue monkey like creatures.
[ What do they want with the blue monkeys?] I asked Arlena.
"Oh you mean the Bmlounkeys?" Arlena asked.
[ Yeah, the Baloniakey.] I replied.
"They mostly are used for gripping and grasping objects that have been lost in strange places." Arlena explained.
Number three hundred. Finally.
This part of the jail was filled with Arlena's people.
Cell block number fifty one made Arlena happy.
"Mother!" Arlena exclaimed. "We must set them all free!"
[ Here we go.] I said sighing.
I turned my gun on low and started to melt the bars.
Eeeeeeeer errrrrrrr! Blared a alarm
[ Damn!] I yelled as I started on the next cell.
Phoenix and Brooke ran down towards us.
[ Quick! We gotta melt all these bars!] I yelled.
[The Nox sure are taking their time.] Ryan observed.
[ They very well may not have been ready for such an attack.] Phoenix suggested.
Fifty aliens free; three to go.
A wall down the hall moaned and made a grinding sound as it slid open--revealing about a dozen Caracara.
[ Darn it all!] Phoenix yelled as she extended the cat claws that come out of her gloves.
The Caracara ran out at us with really big guns coked and loaded.
A ball of bright white light the size of a bowling ball came out of one of the Caracara's guns. The light made a whooshing sound as it crashed through the air.
I hit the floor with a 'thud.'
But some of the Slavs were not as lucky.
I turned my gun of 'full power' and started to shoot at the Caracara. A caracara's head blew to bits and splattered the walls and then smeared down them. The caracara's body fell like a limp rag doll onto the cold floor.
Arlena took out the computer door key and activated it. She herded the people through the portal as we four fought a battle that we were losing.
Phoenix had seven Caracara to fight. So I ran over to see if I could help.
Battles are almost bring, I mean you kill things and you barley escape with your life. All I had to do was aim and fire.
But then, suddenly, a Caracara emerged from one of the sells. It's bird-like claws stabbed into my stomach.
He growled and knocked me over.
I clutched my stomach and tried to stand. I looked painfully down at my middle and saw four bottle cape sized holes with blood oozing out of them.
[Christopher!] Phoenix exclaimed.
Then she grabbed my arm and pulled me up.
[ Phoenix! Christopher! Let's go!] Ryan yelled.
I ran for the portal.
The caracara were so close behind us that they could almost reach out and grab us.
I shoved Phoenix through the portal and then jumped in also. I fell down on the floor.
Phoenix dropped to my side.
I powered down and was glad that the pain of the wounds disappeared along with the suites.
"Are you okay?" Phoenix asked quietly.
I sat up and said, "yeah."
"Aren't they cute?" Phoenix said referring to Arlena and Rouen.
"I guess, but he's just her friend."
"He's her boyfriend." Phoenix said rolling her eyes.
I looked over at Arlena and Rouen, they were talking quietly in the corner of the room. They weren't kissing or anything like that , but you could sorta tell they like each other.
"Amazing how much humans and aliens can have in common." I said with a laugh.
"Isn't it awesome the way when you're in live with some one that's about all you can think about?" Phoenix said softly.
"Yeah, they forget all about their kids and marry some guy." I said grimly.
"You'll get through it." Phoenix said with a smile.
"I'll see you tomorrow at the wedding." I told Phoenix.
Then I stepped through the portal and into my bed room closet.
Lucky for me, no one was in the room, or even noticed I was ever gone.
I laid down in my bed and looked at the clock. It was 2:00 AM and I was wiped.
I dreamt about my family, the way is used to be, and then I dreamed about how it is now.
"Oh, so you figured out who Christopher Ralph is and what he does." I said throwing his pillow back at him.
"Oh, Christopher, I was wondering if my dad forgot to mention that soon we will be getting a new addition to the family." Leo said with a leer.
"They're going to have a baby?!" I yelled freaking out.
"No, actually they are going to be adopting April. My daughter." Leo replied.
"But you're only 16." I said slowly.
"Yeah, I know. It was when my mom and dad were getting divorced, I fell in love with a beautiful girl, and we ran away together."
I cut in, "kinda like a westside story right?"
"Yeah, my mom and dad hated her mom and dad, so well, long story, but all in the end I have a deaf one year old daughter name April." Leo finished.
"This place is nuts." I said.
Then I grabbed my stuff and headed into the bathroom.
I flipped on the radio and climbed into the shower. Phoenix's Irish idols B*Witched, had a new song out called roller coaster, and it was playing on the radio.
I knew my mom would rather I wore my kahkie pants than my regular jeans. I also put on my blue polo shirt.
I waked past my mother's room and she was talking with Phoenix's mother. Brooke's mother was standing outside the room.
So ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. I stopped and started to turn around.
Keith was at the table along with a few of his friends.
"Hey son would you like to help the men with putting out the picnic table?" Keith asked.
"No, I'd rather take a walk." I said turning around and leaving.
I leafed through the mail before I left, bills, bills, bills, and a stupid honeymoon resort add.
After poking through the mail I went out the door and over to Ryan's house.
I opened the door and walked into his kitchen.
"Wussup?" Ryan asked.
'My mom's ruining my life." I replied.
"Isn't that what parents are for?" Ryan replied.
"You could say that again."
"My dad told me I need to eat more bananas." Ryan said as he smashed his banana under his plate. Then he threw the banana into the trash.
"But you were supposed to eat it." I said confused.
"I won't tell if you won't tell." Ryan replied.
I shook my head and laughed.
"Hey do you any cereal?" I asked.
"Yeah, you didn't eat breakfast did you?" Ryan asked.
"Nope man." I replied.
So I ate some breakfast at Ryan's house.
After breakfast Ryan and I played video games.
"Don't remind me." I grumped.
"Come on Chris, it can't be that bad." Phoenix said with a smile.
I looked at Phoenix, standing there in her pink dress, she looked good, real good.
"Leo is a pain, not to mention he has a kid, already." I said.
"Well, maybe you'll grow to like him." Phoenix suggested.
This totally wasn't Phoenix's style.
"You know, my mother has started dating again." Phoenix announced.
"So soon?"
"Well he's been her friend for so many years, and well she's now dating him sorta." She replied.
"And you're totally okay with this?"
"Actually I'm not, but at least I'm okay with his son." She replied.
"That's good, wish I could say the same for myself."
I looked around the yard and saw Phoenix's mom and sisters, her aunt, uncle, and cousins.
Brooke's family, Bernadette's family, and Ryan's family were also there.
And so was my grandma. And also Keith had some friends over.
I went into the kitchen where my mom and her sister Ann were.
My mom didn't have a big frilly white dress on, instead she had on a white, slim dress that came just above her knees, the dress also had little blue butter flies printed on it.
She had dragonfly hair clips in her hair, (Phoenix had picked they out a wedding gift) and she had the Titanic necklace I got for her at the mall.
Her bouquet was made of pink roses.
My mom was so happy, I hadn't seen her this happy since before dad died.
"I have never been this happy in my life." My mom said dreamily.
"Hi Christopher." My aunt Ann said as she noticed I was in the room.
"Hey Ann." I replied.
Just then the door flew open and Phoenix's little sisters Rachel and Sara run through the kitchen.
"Get back here!" Phoenix's cousin Sonya yelled as she tried to run after them.
Phoenix and Brooke burst through the door too.
My mom and her sister laughed.
"Come on!" Phoenix yelled as she grabbed my hand and pulled me along for the chase.
We pounded up the stairs after Sonya and Brooke.
"The bathroom!" Sonya yelled.
We all stood outside the bathroom and Phoenix's little sisters said, "you found us!"
Phoenix and Sonya each picked up a little girl.
"Did you pick out their dresses Phoenix?" I asked.
"Yeah." She replied with a smile.
"Yeah, mommy let's Phoenix pick out Sara and me's clothes." Rachel said with a giggle.
"Let's go, the wedding's about to start!" Sonya said.
I looked around the room and noticed something: I was the only one not wearing pink.
Phoenix put her sister down and the little girls ran down fallowed by Brooke and Sonya. The only one's still in the bathroom were Phoenix and I.
Phoenix took a lip stick out of her purse, then she began to apply it to her lips. When she was done, she walked over and kissed me softly on the cheek.
Then in occurred to me that she had just put on lip stick and kissed me on the face, I now had a mark on my face.
I opened my mouth to say something, but she kissed me on the lips before I could say anything.
After that I washed my face and we went down stairs.
"Pastor Joe is here!" My aunt yelled from the driveway.
I went into the kitchen where my mom was.
"So you're really going to go through with it?" I asked my mom as I traced circles with my finger onto the kitchen table.
"Of course." My mom replied.
I nodded and left the room, what else could I do?
I went out to my front yard and sat on the stoop. How could she forget about my father so quickly? I asked myself.
I held back the tears, I wasn't going to cry.
The trees were nice and green, and the sun was warm, this would have been a great day for Phoenix and I to go do something together. I sighed.
I could hear all the people in the back yard laughing, having a good time.
"Why can't things just stay the same? Why do they have to change?" I said aloud. "Why does my life have to be so damn messed up?"
"Because that's the way life is." Phoenix said as she came out and sat next to me.
She leaned up against me and took my hand.
"I don't get it, we have to save the world, and deal with family problems. Why the hell is this all happening to us?" I asked Phoenix.
"Life's not fair." She replied.
"Maybe I'll just leave, I'm sure Keith and my mom wouldn't miss me." I said suddenly.
"You don't mean that." Phoenix replied.
"Yes I do."
"Shut up boy, you're staying 'cause I'm telling you too." She replied sternly.
I gave her a sour look.
"It's time to grow up, face the music, and go on. Now get in that back yard before I kill ya." Phoenix replied.
I went into the back yard with her because it's not fun when Phoenix is mad at you.
"Is everybody ready?" Keith asked.
Everyone laughed and my mom and her sister came through the kitchen door.
A taped version of the wedding march played (Phoenix had provided that.)
I stared down at the lawn, it was a very nice lawn if you asked me. I couldn't look up and my mom, I wouldn't look up at my mom.
This wasn't fair, I didn't even have a say in the matter, my mom just announced that she was getting married and that was that.
I finally looked up and smiled, I had too. I really shouldn't ruin my mom's wedding, marrying Keith made her happy.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to join Keith and Amber. If there is anyone here that does not believe these two should be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace." The pastor said.
"Don't you say anything." Phoenix whispered to me.
I smiled.
"Very well there. Amber repeat after me. I Amber, take thee Keith."
"I Amber take thee Keith." My mom repeated.
"To have and to hold."
"To have and to hold."
"In sickness and in health."
"In sickness and in health."
"For richer or for poorer."
"For richer or for poorer."
"From this day forth as long as you both shall live."
"From this day forth as long as we both shall live."
These words hurt me, she had also said the same to my dad, and now he was dead.
My mom slipped a gold wring onto Keith's finger.
"Keith, repeat after me. I Keith, take thee Amber."
"I Keith take thee Amber."
"To have and to hold."
"To have and to hold."
"In sickness and in health."
"In sickness and in health."
"For richer or for poorer."
"For richer or for poorer."
"From this day forth as long as you both shall live."
"From this day forth as long as we both shall live."
Keith slipped a gold wring onto my mom's finger.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride." The pastor said with a smile.
Phoenix was crying.
"Oh great." I mumbled.
"Oh shush." She replied.
Everyone clapped and my mom smiled.
"Let's eat!" Keith said.
"Wait!" Phoenix and Sonya said at the same time.
"What?!" My mom asked sounding panicked.
"You need to dance first." Sonya replied.
"Yeah!" Phoenix chimed in.
"Well Keith and I don't really have a favorite song, Keith doesn't really like music." My mom replied.
"I know, that why I'm going to sing a song for you." Phoenix replied.
"You really don't need too." Keith said.
"Come on Keith, Phoenix is such a talented young women, go on Phoenix sing the song." My mom replied.
Phoenix nodded and Sonya went and got a Cherokee machine from the car.
"This sucks, your girlfriend is going to sing?" Leo said laughing like it was a joke.
"She can sing, she sings really well." I replied defensively. "Much better than you." I added.
Leo glared at me.
Everyone paired up except for me, because my girl was the one who was going to sing.
When everyone was ready Phoenix took the microphone and started to sing.
"No mountain's too high for you to climb
All you have to do is have some climbing faith
No rivers to wide for you to make it through
All you have do is believe it when you pray
And then you will see
the morning will come
And every day will be bright as the sun
So all of your fears
Cast them on me
All I ever wanted was for you to see
I'll be your cloud up in the sky
I'll be your shoulder when you cry
I'll hear voices when you call me
I am your angel
And when all hope is gone, I'm near
No matter how far you are, I'm near
It makes no difference who you are,
I am your angel
I saw your teardrops, and I heard you cry
All you need is time
seek me and you shall find
You have everything and you're still alone
It don't have to be this way
Let me show you a better day
Oh and then you will see
The morning will come
And all of your days will be bright as the sun
All of your fears
Just cast them on me
How can I make you see
I'll be your cloud up in the sky
I'll be your shoulder when you cry
I'll hear voices when you call me
I am your angel
And when all hope is gone, I'm near
No matter how far you are, I'm near
It makes no difference who you are
I am your angel"
Everyone clapped, including Leo.
"Phoenix you did great!" I said as I hugged her.
"Thanks." She replied as she planted a kiss on my cheek.
Keith started to put food on the barbeque.
"Hey phoenix, while the food's cooking, how about you and I go get something cooking in the house?" Leo asked.
"No thanks." Phoenix replied.
"Come on babe, you know you want me." Leo said with a leer.
"She said no." I warned.
"What you gonna do? Tell your mommy?" Leo replied.
"I'm not going to do anything, but I still would advise you to leave her alone." I said as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Look, keep hitting on my and I'll hit you." Phoenix said to Leo.
"And I'll tell my dad." Leo shot back.
"You'll tell him what? A girl hit me?" Phoenix said smirking.
"Phoenix you are a total," Leo began
Wham!
Phoenix punched Leo in the middle.
Leo gasped then glared.
"I told you to stop, but no, you didn't listen." Phoenix said before she walked away.
I fallowed her and said, "You really shouldn't have hit him." I said to Phoenix.
"Eh, don't sweat it, it's not like he didn't deserve it." She replied.
I shook my head.
The early dinner Keith cooked was okay, a little burnt, but okay.
"I can't wait until I get married." Brooke said.
"Mmm me either, I'm gonna have one swank wedding." Phoenix said as she leaned against me.
"You'll have to invite me." I said laughing.
Phoenix gave me a shove.
"Yeah we will won't we Phoenix honey?" Leo said with a leer.
"Just give it up boy, you ain't got anything I want." Phoenix replied.
Leo didn't have a come back for that.
"It's time to throw the bouquet!" My mom announced.
The girls all leapt from their seats as if they were on fire.
My mom stood on a chair and threw the bouquet into a crowd of screaming girls.
Catching the bouquet should be a sport. Even a sport you put on TV rated PG14LV. ( parental guidance for children under 14 because of language and violence.)
Bernadette pushed Sonya out of the way.
Sara was clinging to Dion's leg, it was total chaos!
"I'VE GOT IT!" A voice yelled.
The crowd faded and Phoenix was left holding the bouquet.
"Bernadette almost got it, but Rachel took her shoe and Bernadette decided she wanted the $75 shoe more." Phoenix said with a giggle.
"So when do you want to get married?" I asked jokingly.
"How 'bout now?" She replied then rapped her arms around my neck and kissed me.
"Oh no." My mom said laughing.
"Phoenix is getting married too!" Sara yelled.
That caused everyone at the wedding to laugh.

I smiled.
My mom knocked on the computer room door and then she came in.
"Hi Christopher." My mom said.
"I will not say a word." I said under my breath.
"What did you say?" My mom asked.
"I said I was glad you're married." I lied.
"Thank you. I know you will grow to like Keith." My mom replied.
I shook my head back and forth.
"Keith and I are going on our honeymoon tomorrow morning."
"That's good." I replied with no excitement what so ever.
"And you and Leo will have to stay at Keith's mom and dad's house." My mom informed me.
"Uh-no, I'm not going, why can't I just stay here?" I demanded.
"Keith thinks it's better that you get to know your new grandparents." My mom said kindly.
"I can't go." I insisted.
"Why not?" My mom asked.
"Because I still owe Phoenix a trip to the beach." I replied. "And I haven't played video games with Ryan." I replied.
"You can take Phoenix to the beach another time, and you play video games with Ryan all the time." My mom said with a frown.
"Mom!" I whined.
"Please go pack." My mom pleaded.
I groaned and went to my room.
I grabbed my back pack and started to pack. I pulled my playstation out from under the bed.
"They don't have a TV." Leo said smugly.
"That sucks." I replied.
Instead I packed my Game Boy.
Leo picked up my picture of Phoenix. "You gonna miss snuggling up with Phoenix at night?" Leo asked with a leer.
"Phoenix and I don't spend the night together." I replied hotly.
"And I suppose all those sleep overs at Phoenix's house just involve you on the floor and Phoenix in her room?" Leo asked.
"No, we usually watch TV on the couch, and finally fall a sleep on the couch or floor, nothing' to get all excited about."
"I don't believe you." Leo replied.
"You don't have to." I shot back.
I grabbed picture frame away from Leo. Then I picked up the phone and dialed Phoenix's phone number.
I got her answering machine, so I left a message for her saying I was going to my grandparents house and wouldn't be home.
"You know what Leo?" I said.
"What?" He asked.
"I can't stand you." I replied.
Then I left the room and went on the Internet again and voice chatted with Phoenix.
Chapter Nine
Here it was summer vacation, and where was I? In the car going to some grandparents house and I don't even know them.
We'd been in the car for over an hour when finally we parked in from of a rickety old green house.
We slowly walked up the old splintering boards that were supposedly steps.
A fat old lady opened the door and said, "oh Bobby!" Then she hugged Leo.
"My name's Leo." Leo corrected.
"Hey Joe, you been working good in school?" An old man asked.
"Oh pa, you be forgetting again! His name is Bobby and we haven't seen him since his fifth birthday!" The old lady said in a high-pitched voice.
I was guessing that these two were my new grandparents, but I really hoped they were just paid help.
"You were at my 15th birthday party last year." Leo said sounding confused.
"I know sunny." The old lady replied.
"He's gotten bigger since we last see him." The old guy pointed out.
"And fatter." The old lady added.
"Just call them grandma and grandpa." Leo whispered.
I nodded.
"We'll see you all later." Keith said as he and my mom left.
"Come in!" Grandma said.
Leo and I stepped in carefully, the house looked as if it was about to fall down.
"Christopher you'll have to sleep on the couch because Allen here's got the only bed." Grandma said.
"Great." I replied.
"Why don't you two little boys go play army in the woods?" Grandpa suggested.
"Sure, why not?" I said to Leo.
I grabbed my summer reading book and Leo and I left.
"So what are you going to do?" Leo asked.
"I'm gonna 'play' in the woods." I replied.
I started to walk through the woods looking for a place to read. I sat down on a log and opened my book.
CRASH!
Something crashed behind me!
I dropped the book and spun around.
"Ryan!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, man. Your mom and Keith are I danger." Ryan replied.
"What?!" I yelled.
"Just come with me." Ryan said as he jumped through the portal.
I fallowed him through the portal and into the danger room.
"What's wrong with my mom?!" I yelled.
"The honeymoon place they went to, that's the Nox's new host gathering." Ryan replied.
"So what are we going to do leader?" I asked Ryan.
"We're going on our own honeymoon." He replied.
"What he means is we're going undercover as newlyweds." Phoenix said.
"I'm totally in guys, but none of us are married." I pointed out.
"We're just pretending." Phoenix replied.
"You are to pack your bags and leave for the resort." Dai said.
We went back to my grandparents house and got my backpack, then we went back to our danger room.
Phoenix and Brooke both had very heavy suitcases.
"Phoenix, what do you have in there?" Ryan asked.
"Wouldn't you just love to know." Phoenix replied with a grin.
"Christopher, you and Phoenix will go as one couple and Brooke and I will go as another." Ryan said.
"How are we going to get there with out using the portal in front of the Nox?" Brooke asked.
"You will go to a parking lot where I have placed cars and you will drive the short distance to the resort." D replied.
"Yeah! I can drive!" Phoenix yelled sounding totally thrilled.
"Now Brooke and I have to put on dresses, because we can't go in Old Navy Board Shorts and Power Puff Girls T-Shirts now can we?" Phoenix pointed out. "So you boys have to close your eyes."
"And no peaking." Brooke added.
Darn. I thought to myself.
After the girls got dressed Ryan said, "Well let's go."
We went through the portal and ended up in a parking lot.
"Good thing no one saw that." Brooke said.
"Yeah." We all agreed.
D handed us the car keys and Phoenix and I went in to our car.
"You sure you know how to drive?" I asked as Phoenix started the car.
"Yes, Dion taught me how to drive as soon as she could drive." She replied.
"That's good." I replied, though I wasn't all that sure that she could drive after all.
Phoenix pulled out of the lot and headed for the resort.
"Just hope the police don't stop us, we'd be like saying, 'oh well we were just trying to save the world. And we needed to go to a honeymoon resort to do it. And let's not forget that we needed to drive some good looking sports car.'" Phoenix said joking.
"There's the resort." I said pointing.
Phoenix pulled into the parking lot.
"Can you park?" I asked.
"Of course, I learned how to before my sister Dion could, that's the only thing she couldn't do." Phoenix replied.
She parked as easily as she had said she could.
"I'm gonna get out and open your door for you." I told Phoenix.
"Why?" She asked.
"We're newlyweds, we do that kinda stuff." I replied.
I opened the door for myself, then went around and opened Phoenix's door for her.
"Thank you sweetie pie." Phoenix replied.
"Don't call me that." I replied laughing.
"So how did you do with parking the car?" Ryan asked.
"Just fine, how about you?" She replied.
"Well someone needs a new passenger side door, but that's no problem." Ryan replied.
"You hit someone's car?!" I said laughing.
"No, the other car hit me." He shot back.
I pulled my bags and Phoenix's bags out of the trunk, then locked it.
The we went into the building to Singh in at the front desk. "My wife and I would like a room please sir." I told the man at the front desk.
"Your name please sir." He replied.
