The Warbird, as originally concieved, flew vertically, though it was decided that it would be too confusing for the viewer. Oh well, at least it was pretty original anyway. Personally I wish they would show space battles as they would probably occur in three dimensional space - basically it's rather unlikely that everyone would share the same plane.
