There are several definitions for a lightsaber,
each description varies but the
basic principles remain the same. A lightsaber
is constructed by a
Jedi, Dark Jedi, and Sith Padawan/Apprentice
to reach that next "level" in training,
constructing your own lightsaber, shows that
you have matured enough in
the Force to learn the more advanced techniques.
When you build your
lightsaber you learn patience, control, logic,
physics, and other needed
skills for without the knowledge of them,
your lightsaber would fail
to operate properly, and if a crystal should
be mis-aligned, the
results could be tragic, as it would cause
the lightsaber to detonate
upon activation.
Although each saber is unique, the weapon's
basic design remains the
same, the handle is generally 24 to 30 centimeters
long, holding a power cell
as well as one or more crystals, typically
of the Adegen Family, but not limited
to them. Seldom is there more than three gems
within one saber hilt, the purpose of
them is to focus the energy released by the
power cell into as tight, blade-like beam.
The blade's color is thought to depend on
the nature of the jewel/crystal it springs from
and while its length is fixed in the case
of a single jewel/crystal lightsaber,
sabers equipped with multiple crystals can
have their length varied, by a
rotating knob switch which allowsthe focusing
crystal activator to subtly
modify the refraction pattern between the
gems/crystals.
A lightsaber can cut through virtually anything,
except another lightsaber blade but they
require years of practice to wield effectivly.
Each lightsaber hilt is handcrafted as part of
a Jedi/Dark Jedi/Sith's training, typically
resembling the hilt of their Master. Some saber
hilts have very unique design elements, and
are considered works of art, as well as weapons
of protection. Lightsabers typically take
a month to construct and test, however during an
emergency a Jedi/Dark Jedi/Sith can construct
a "makeshift" lightsaber, that tends to
break down after a few days, but perfect for
emergencies, given the
craft is understood, and easily duplicated
slightly, as there is no known
"set" way to construct a saber, due to the
unique angles cut along the crystals inside.
Parts Needed to Construct a Functioning Lightsaber
Metallic
Cylinder - This
metallic casing is the main element to
holding
the components together, typically constructed of durasteel
or in
some cases mandale steel.
Focal
lens
- This
component is used to focus the beam created
by the
jewels/crystals and power cell.
Superconductor
-
This
conductor is a prime element in saber construction
used to
balance the heat distrubution as well as aid the power cell in creating
the
shimmering
beam of energy, known as the saber blade.
Adegen
Crystals - These
crystals are the most known, used
to focus
and tighten the lightsaber beam. They are also the best choice
for doing
this task, however other gems can be used, but have lesser effect,
making
the saber beam, below its potential.
Power
Cell
- The
power cell is just as the name implies, its
used to
give the power needed to create the energy for a lightsaber's
vibrant
blade.
Concave Disk - This is basically used to aid in the saber blade focusing process.
Exterior
Controls - These
consist of adjustment knobs, power switches, and
other
key componets needed to allow control over the function of the lightsaber.
High
Energy Flux Aperture
- This
compont is simular to the concave disk.
I
A lightsaber blade is 1 meter long with no
mass, the hilt is 24-30 centimeters in length.
Typical colors are red, blue, green, and purple...but
not limited to them.
II
A lightsaber's blade can be extended to a certian
degree, if there are multiple
gems within it, and the appropriate controls
to control it.
III
A lightsaber can cut through virtually anything
EXCEPT another lightsaber
blade, when the blade contacts another surface
the energy in the blade
tends to weaken its power, yet increase the
heat within the object it has
contact with, thus melting it or increasing
the heat to a white-hot temperature.
IV
Lightsabers, are not proven to not be able
to function underwater, for the purpose
of SWC, I will allow them to function underwater.
I
Anyone who wishes to rise above the rank of
Padawan/Apprentice
MUST role-play
construction thier own lightsaber before
they can reach the next "Step" in the Force
Ranks list.
(whether you have one or not)
II
If you construct a lightsaber, keep in mind
that Adegen Crystals are the most
common, and best choice to use for focusing
crystals, if you construct a lightsaber
with synthetic gems or something of that nature,
your blade will not be as strong
as one whose saber is constructed of either
Luminex or Adegen Crystals making
winning a power "struggle" more difficult.
(saber tie up, forcing someone back)
III
Saber construction ratios are the following :
1
real life month - Adegen Crystal Saber, Luminex (Versia)
2 real life weeks - Synthetic crystal saber,
"gemstone" saber
(diamond, emerald, ruby)
3 real life days - Makeshift lightsaber (will
not allow you to advance)
NOTE : See rule III
IV
I advise you role-play your saber construction
techniques, so other fellow role-players
and GMs are aware of your progress (and its
more fun to be creative too). GMs will keep
track of the time you have taken to construct
your saber, when the waiting period has
expired, your saber is 100% legal. As for
rank advancement, lightsaber construction
is only one step in that process, if the others
are met, you'll be advanced.
(concept, not necessarily accurate)
