SEGA Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online Vers. 2 Preview
Phantasy Star Online Vers. 2
Earlier this year (2001), Sonic team, a division of Sega, did something that had never before been done. They released a Role Playing Game that allowed players all across the world to communicate and play together through a videogame console. When you think about the possibilities of this actually working, you see a very slim chance. I mean, how could you get someone to interact with someone across the world and understand them. Not only that, but how could you do it without having a terrible amount of lag over the 56k line that the Dreamcast is working with? well, despite all of the doubt, it was done. Phantasy Star Online allowed up to four players to team up over the internet and play together to battle their way through a vast world of enemies on the planet Ragol. While the game lacked in story line, and a good ending, it excelled in every other area. Graphics were nice, sounds were nice, and gamers were having fun. Now comes the question, with over 250,000 gamers playing online, what do you do? You release a sequel ofcourse.
