As I have studied the totems, I have found that we also have many in the mystical and mythical world. I do not see these as being mythical but I see them being animals that have been misunderstood. Some people have seen them as dinosaurs others see them as they have been reported in oral legend. Others see them as just figments of our imagination but if they are figments then where did they originate.

The positive essence is being alert and aware of hidden things from bigotry people. The can give wisdom and protection but only as one needs it.

Alan

Philippine spirit who were friendly but were also mischievous creatures. Not to be called.

Angka (Anka) was another bird that the Arabians traditions tell of. This bird was formed to kill and eat the animals of Palestine so the Israelites could move in. However, Allah forgot to remove the creature and Anka made large parts of that country barren. See Roc for more information.

The positive essence of this creature is he uses his power to protect him or her and those closest to them. There is an essence of the knowledge that you are protected.

The negative essence is a person who wants to use his power to do damage to another. One who is misusing his power for fear and self-gratification.

Attagen a beautiful singing bird referred in Elizabethan times that could make one think of beauty and calmness.

The positive essence was of calming and seeing beauty in all things. To cherish all things and their freedom to live their own lives.

The negative essence was to die if one ever took its freedom away.

This bird has been reported to have a human head on it or to be big bird. No one is certain which is which due to artistry and loss of information. This Egyptian's gigantic bird conducted souls to the afterlife. Some believe that these certain birds were considered souls of the dead.

The plumage of this bird, which is a combination of pheasant and peacock, represents one of the five basic cardinal virtues. It does have a connection to the Phoenix.

A symbol of everlasting love and personal balances and complements.

The positive essence of this creature is when one acknowledges and develops the feminine side of his or her spiritual nature. They are listening to their inner voice and there creative side of life.

The negative essence is the one who is denial and suppresses this side of their spirit. They can also be of the domineering type of woman due to this suppression

FireBird

A mystical and magickal bird from Russian tradition.

A bird that could change forms from woman to bird and back again. In her bird form she had feathers that looked like flames, eyes like rubies, claws of gold and a long stream of tail feathers that looked liken to peacocks.

This creature's positive essence is. She works with thought and is a good teacher for is willing to listen to the inner messages and act upon them with common sense. Nevertheless, she will expect you to listen then do.

Goofus

A curious bird that has been found in North America.

The essence of this bird is only interested in the path and doing things the wrong way.

Halcyon

Originating from Greek mythology they are said to usually only be available at summer and winter solstices.

The positive essence is that they are very good parents and that they are symbols of love that last past death. They help one morn.

The negative essence is that they are shy and sing mournful songs that one can be caught up in.

Harpies (Frauenadler) (Jungfrauadler)

These creatures were to sent to do the punishing or tormenting of the gods who would send them when someone broke a spiritual law. There were said to be creatures of wind, storm, thunder, and lighting. Although they were described as hideous woman in the ethereal, they were beautiful.

The Germanic heraldry called these creatures Frauenadler or Jungfrauadler. The difference was that this creature was woman from the navel up. No where is it found how this creature came to be. Now in the English heraldry the harpy was borne in the arms of the person who had committed manslaughter.

Coming from the Japanese, it is a two-headed bird, which looks like the bird of paradise. It symbolizes perfect love and the embodiment of two souls.

A Norse god, that originally laid the egg of the world. The name is also connected to Sanskrit for white bird.

The essence of this bird is creation and silence.
