 (Updated 4/30/13) Looks like we're in for the long haul. This current Megaforce hiatus will be at least EIGHT weeks. Here's what we know:
May 18-19: eps 1 & 2 So, they're taking five weeks to go though a complete cycle of the nine existing episodes. I get that. But, if May 18-19 is the start of ANOTHER five-week rerun cycle, we're talking at least a 10-week hiatus with June 22 the next likely date of a return. But we know Nick's ways of doing things. If they get to 10, it's probably The Big One. Another 5-week cycle would take us to the last weekend of July. If they're gonna stretch this hiatus into June or even July, they might as well take it all the way to August. Would be an appropriate part of the PR20 celebration to have an entire month of new episodes. When we get to August -- the actual month of PR's 20th anniversary -- I'm concerned that there won't be a single on-TV acknowledgement of the event. No specials, no marathons, or even no new episodes. This is the biggest test yet of just how true of a partner Nickelodeon really is. All of Saban Brands' other partners -- the toys, the cards, the videos, the clothes, everything else -- have stepped up and proven their relevance and strength as a partner in the celebration of PR's 20th anniversary. Nick has barely lifted a pinky for this show. If they let August pass without as much as one new episode, that will be the final straw that convinces me that Saban Brands should, at the earliest opportunity, take their show and find somewhere else to show it. (Vortexx, anyone?) The precise anniversary date, Aug. 28, is a Wednesday. Here's where Nicktoons can be off-the-chain overboard with PR20-related programming. Weekends in August could have marathons of PR. And, as someone else suggested, Nicktoons would be NOTHING BUT PR on August 28. That month will be the crystal-clear revelation as to how much of a true partner Nick has committed to being for the PR franchise. If they can't step up then, Saban Brands needs to get out.
