Martian Calendar

We believe this calendar should be universally adopted for Mars. Prior to the first human spacecraft to orbit Mars, time would be calculated in years per (whichever) scientific era was in use. This calendar should go into effect the year the first human (Russian we believe, but are not certain) spacecraft came into orbit around Mars. The first year would begin the moment the Martian northern hemisphere reaches mid-winter (in keeping with Earth tradition that the year begin in winter of the northern hemisphere). Time should now be considered the Human Era for Mars.
