A year passes in England before Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are drawn into Narnia again by some mysterious force. They arrive to find that almost a thousand years have passed, and the castle of Cair Paravel is only a deserted ruin by the sea. The children discover that, hundreds of years before, Narnia had been conquered by the human Telmarines out of the West, and that the Old Narnians, the Talking Beasts, have been driven into hiding by these conquerors. Prince Caspian, the nephew of King Miraz (the usurper of the throne) encountered the Old Narnians when fleeing for his life, and has been named the true King of Narnia. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were summoned to Narnia by Susan's horn to help Caspian and the Old Narnians in their fight for freedom from Miraz's rule. . . .
