My St. John's Trip Pictures

I recently had a trip back to my home province of Newfoundland, and had a wonderful but exhausting week of visiting family & friends, as well as getting out to enjoy the beauty of the city. Though some of the pictures looking down on the city may not seem like St. John's is very large, it is by Atlantic regional cities the second largest city in the Atlantic region - Halifax Regional Municipality being the largest. It has a population within 100km of St. John's of about 250, 000 with the amalgamated areas. These are some of the pictures that I took during my recent trip back to my home city of St. John's, Newfoundland. Bear in mind, this may take some time to load with the pictures.

This was the old house that we lived in for 16 years. There are some changes (from the outside) since we lived there. Didn't get a chance to check with the owners to see inside, so didn't. Would have been interesting to see what they did with the inside.

One evening I took a walk through Bowering Park (a large park in the west end of the city) and took a few photos. Here are some of the results. The top two are of the upper part of the park at the upper duck pond. Then a lower pictures are from the lower duck pond and the Peter Pan statue. There are only two such statues in the world - one in St. John's, Newfoundland, and the other in (I think) Kensington Gardens in London, England.

Here are two pictures taken of Cabot Tower that were taken just as the sun was setting. The lower one was of St. John's from Cabot Tower.

This next grouping of pictures is from my walk along the Rennies River Trail. It's a river that runs from uptown (Long Pond) through the east end of town down to Quidi Vidi Lake.

My last evening in the city on this trip, I went downtown and took some pictures down on the wharf. The http://www.focuskerry.com/jeanie/">Jeanie Johnston was in dock. The following are two images that I shot of the ship.
