The Characters
Here they are: The Characters. You can't really have a book without them. I've just bothered with the impotant charaters, and if you think I've left anyone out, let me know.
Evlenbane
- V'kass Dyran Lord Hernalth: The most powerful and influental f all the elven Lords. Dyran is a man whi hates being thwarted, and will crush all oppisition. He is extremely powerful in magic, and there are few who wuld challenge him. He participated in the first Wizad War, and came into power shortly thereafter. He loathes halfbloods, and sees humans as intelligent tools. Those who do well are rewarded, and those who do not are severly punsihed.
- Serina Daeth: A human concubine, and Lord Dyran's favorite. Serina did everything she coudl to rise through the harem to Dyran's side. She flaunted her wild beauty, and attempted to captivate the lord by surprising him, something no other human had done. She rose to his side, and went everywhere, to remain at his side. But a jealous rival switched Serina's fod, and Serina becamse fertile and concieved. She fled into the desert in her eith month of preganacy, where she gave birth and died.
- Alarmarana: A young dragon Shaman, Alara is on a meditation quest when she finds the dying Serina. Alara enters her mind, and finds out mroe about the elven world then she ever had before. She is appalled at the elves and the humans, and almost leaves Serina. But then the woman goes into labor, and ALara rescues the child, bringing it home to her lair. She herself goes into labor after winning a verbal war over the child. Alara is torn by her duty as shaman and her duty as a mother. Eventually, her duties as a mother ins out, and she long with handful of other elders leave the lair to go to the halfbloods aide.
- Lashana: The Elvenbane herself. Shana as born to the human concubine Serina Daeth, whom ran to the desert to escape death. Shana was raised by the dragon Alara, and was never told what she was. raised alongside Alara's own son, far away from any other humans or elves, Shana had no reason to beleive she was anything but a shape-shifted dragon. But the rest of the dragons saw her as an animal, and a dangerous one. Especially when Shana used her budding magical powers to protect her foster-brother Keman from the Lair's bully. Shana was put out, and had to larn to fend for hersef in a strange new world. Luckily, Shana is rescued by wizards, other halfbloods like herself, and brought to their stronghold. But she feels that many more slaves can be helped, and ends up starting a full scale war. Shana starts out as a bit naeive, but full of spirit. She retains that spirit throughout the book, but she is still a young woman. She's put out of the lair when she's only fourteen, and she's fifteen or sixteen when she and Zed leave the Citadel to rescue those children that were going to be killed. I'm guessing that after she and Keman split from the group and meet up with Valyn and Mero that they spend maybe half a year in the wilderness and Triana's manor. So Sana's a young woman when she's leading this revolution. And only a year passes between the irst and second books, so that puts her at eighten at most. She has remarkable insight or one her age, but her youthfulnes often shows through. She is brash, and a bit on the impulsive side. She hates it when she isn't taken seriously, and she has quite a fiery temper. She sometimes resents being forced into the role of Elvenbane, and doesn't think she deserves the title. Again, she is willing to take on responsibility, but resents so much. I think she really just want to be a normal halfblood girl.
- Kemanorel: Keman, Shana's dragon foster brother. Keman is two years older thn Shana, and very idealistic. He was raised to be Shaman, and he has a very strong sense of right and wrong. He never thought of Shana as anything but his sister, despite what the rest of the Lair said.In fact, when Shana was cast out for defending him, keman went after her. The first time, he was brought back by his mother. He again forced the Lair elders to see reason, but they refused. Keman snuck out, and went among the elves to try and find Shana. But she had been spirited way by the wzards, and no trace remanined. After months of searching, Keman tracks her into the woods and they are reunited. Keman is a good character, he is very thoughtful and has a strong moral code. He stands up for his beliefs, and refuses to back down. He turns his back on his heritage to defend his values and do what is right.
- Valyn Hernalth: The Lord heir of Lord Dyran Hernalth, Valyn inherited none of his father's cruelty. Quite the opposite, in fact. Valyn saw humans as what they were, intelligent beings equal to elves. And halfbloods weren't that different either. He even sheltered halflood, his cousin Mero. Valyn took the boy as his own personal servant, and kept him with him at all times. When Mero was close to being discovered, Valyn ran with him to seek out the other halfbloods, even though he knew there was a good chance he'd be killed. Valyn is another character with a strong moral code. He sees the horrors his people commit, and he is disgusted. But despite his good heart, he is still elven and can be condescending.
- Mero Jenner: A halfblood, hidden by his mother until he was eleven. Then, he was smuggled to valyn who agreed to protect him. Mero is sixteen, and very quiet. He has a temper, but gaurds it well. He loes his elven cousin fiercly, despite not being bale to show it. He is a bit of a follower, and is imediatly set upon by Lady Triana when the four take shelter in her manor. But he is able to break the glamories set on him, and during the Second Wizard War proves quite useful in battle. He's a bit on the shy side, but friendly and intelligent.
- Myrenatelli: Keman's dragon sister, Myre is a bully and a spoiled brat. She caused no small amount of trouble when Keman and Shana were children, and actually challenges Keman to a duel by magic when he tries one last time to get the lair on his side. Myre wins, but the Lair follows Keman anyway.
Elvenblood
- Lorryn Treves: A halfblood who has been hidden as the Lord Treves' elven son. When three memebers of the Elven Council coeoe test him for halfblood illusion, Lorryn panics. e runs to his sister, who is full elven. The two siblings escape with the help of a maid (the shapehifted Myre) they travel the wilderness, and eventually cme uponthe iron people. There they met up with hana and her group, and an attachment grows between Loryn and Shana. Lorryn is a good hearted man, devoted to his mother and sister. He has courage and strength, and intelligence to match.
- Sheyrena Treves: Lorryn's sister. She is younger, and though she is a full blooded elven maiden, she proves quite competent when they flee. She herself is runnign from a marriage engagement to an idiot. he uses her smal magics o help her and her brother survive, and is welcomed into Shana's group. Mero forms an attachmen to the oung elven woman, which she returns. She isa bit timid, and has doubts about throwing her lot in with the halfbloods. But in the end, she does what's right.
