Doctor Who Chronology: The 31st to 40th Centuries

Return to Table of Contents.

3000

The Daleks attempt another invasion of Earth.

A thousand years before "Dalek Cutaway" (4000). This was probably intended to be a reference to "The Dalek Invasion of Earth," but the date is way off. Given the Daleks' tendency to attack Earth and her colonies, I see no reason why they wouldn't have made another attack at this time.

The Ice Warriors: 1,2,3,4,5,6: During an attempt to halt a new Ice Age, a group of scientists accidently revive a group of Ice Warriors who were frozen in 30 000 BC. The 2nd Doctor, Jamie and Victoria help prevent the Warriors from taking over the world and destroy their ship.

All other chronologies use this date. I am following suit.

3073

Carnival of Monsters: 1,2,3,4: On the planet Inter Minor, the 3rd Doctor and Jo become trapped in a Mini-Scope, a machine which captures beings from different points in time and puts them on display. The Doctor manages to escape the Scope and return all the creatures to their native times. An unsuccessful coup of the Inter Minor government also takes place during the Doctor's visit.

I am arbitrarily placing this story 100 years after the development of anti-magnetic cohesion, to allow it to be put to practical use.

3180

State of Decay: 1,2,3,4: Still trapped in E-Space, the 4th Doctor, the 2nd Romana, K-9 Mark II and Adric visit an unnamed world where a village lives in fear of its rulers, a trio of vampires. These rulers are controlled by the Great Vampire, a giant, ancient enemy of the Time Lords. The Doctor is able to program a spaceship to plunge through the Great Vampire's heart, destroying it.

A thousand years after the Hydrax enters E-Space in 2180.

3500

The Daleks begin acquiring planets in more remote areas of the universe. Over the next five hundred years, they will eventually gain control over more than 110 worlds.

500 years prior to "Dalek Cutaway" (4000).

3773

The Ribos Operation: 1,2,3,4: The 4th Doctor, K-9 Mark II and the 1st Romana arrive on the planet Ribos in search of the first segment of the Key to Time. They get involved in a confidence trick gone wrong, as a couple of con-men attempt to "sell" the planet to deposed dictator, the Graff Vynda-K. The trick involves a piece of the valuable mineral, jethrik, which is the disguised Key segment. The time-travelers manage to save the con-men's lives and retrieve the segment.

This story takes place in an unidentified future. This future is probably some time after the collapse of the Earth Empire (post-2950), otherwise, Earth would have just taken Ribos over. Due to there being a system governing whether a culture is advanced enough to make contact with, and the fact that people actually care about and follow these rules, I assume that this story takes place during the time of the Federation. I am arbitrarily placing it a hundred years before "The Curse of Peladon" (3873).

3873

The Curse of Peladon: 1,2,3,4: The 3rd Doctor and Jo are sent by the Time Lords to ensure that the planet Peladon enters the Galactic Federation. This is opposed by Peladon's High Priest Hepesh, who fears the Federation, and the Federation delegate Arcturus, who wants exclusive mineral rights with Peladon. Their treachery is revealed by the Doctor and Jo.

Date not given in story. Other chronologies range anywhere from 3500 to 3885. I am arbitrarily using Lance Parkin's 39th century placement from A History of the Universe and adjusting it to the "contemporary" anniversary date.

King Peladon's coronation takes place.

Just after "The Curse of Peladon."

3900

The Chase: The Executioners; The Death of Time: On the planet Skaro, the Daleks finish building a time-machine and track the TARDIS and its crew resting on the planet Aridius. The 1st Doctor, Barbara, Ian and Vicki are almost turned over to the Daleks by the Aridians before escaping.

The time-machine from "The Daleks' Master Plan" is newly completed in this sequence. I am placing these events 100 years before that story in order to allow time for the Daleks' elaborate plans to come together by 4000.

3922

The Kilbracken holograph-cloning technique is developed. This produces only very short-lived clones, the longest recorded life-span being only 10 minutes 55 seconds.

"The Invisible Enemy."

3923

On the planet Peladon, two Federation engineers, Eckersley and Vega Nexos, convince that planet's wary miners to try out the Sonic Lance for mining.

Shortly before "The Monster of Peladon."

The Monster of Peladon: 1,2,3,4,5,6: The Federation, at war with Galaxy 5, attempts to mine much-needed trisilicate from the planet Peladon. Eckersley, a Federation engineer, and a group of Ice Warriors, turn traitor and attempt to sabotage the mining by making it appear that the Pels' god, Aggedor, has turned against them. The 3rd Doctor and Sarah expose their plot, and Galaxy 5 surrenders to the Federation.

This story takes place 50 years after "The Curse of Peladon" (3873).

On Peladon, the miners' leader, Gebek, is appointed Queen Thalira's Chancellor.

Shortly after "The Monster of Peladon."

3925

A group of Daleks use their time-machine to travel back into an alternate 2071, where the wars on Earth make it easy for them to conquer Earth.

"Day of the Daleks." I am arbitrarily placing this event 25 years after the development of the Daleks' time machine in 3900.

3975

A non-aggression pact is signed by all the members of Earth's solar system.

"The Daleks' Master Plan."
