Transformers Generations (2010-2018)

Not one to let a major segment of the market go untapped, in the 2010-2011 year Hasbro had two lines dedicated to movie-styled toys, and so it stood to reason that a line would also be released giving fans more "classic"-designed Transformers, as well. Dropping the "Transformers Universe" subline from the previous time such a line had been released to stores, the new name "Transformers Generations" was given to the new line, which was meant to give the line a bit broader of an aspect. Instead of merely revisiting characters from previous U.S. toy lines, Generations also brought new forms to some comic-only characters (for whom many of which this was their first toy, ever), previously Japanese-only characters, and characters from the "War for Cybertron" video games. Unlike Transformers: Universe 2.0, the initial mainline for Generations was deluxe-class-only, though store exclusives for the line tended to break this rule. The inital line ended at the end of 2011, having achieved pretty decent success for a sideline with no real media to back it up (ignoring, of course, the "War for Cybertron" characters).
The Generations line was re-launched in the summer of 2012 with redesigned packaging and initially focusing on characters in the "Fall of Cybertron" video game. Likely because of oil prices and the economy, the price for deluxes jumped up to $15 U.S. as opposed to the traditional $10-12. In early 2013 $10 U.S.-priced Legend 2-packs and Voyager class toys were added to the line as well.
In mid-2013, the line switched to a "Thrilling 30" theme, with the focus being on the 30th Anniversary of Transformers in 2014 and thus touching on all of the previous eras of Transformers to some extent. Leader class figures were also added to the line at roughly $45 U.S., as well as the occasional big "Titan" class release ($100+ U.S.).
Come 2015, the line took on a "Combiner Wars" theme, updating many G1-era gestalts with deluxe-sized TFs forming the limbs and voyager-priced TFs forming the torsos, with some Legends-class toys forming extra weapons/armor. Around this time the MSRP prices for deluxes went up to $17 U.S., while the voyagers went up to $25 U.S. Legend-class toys stayed the same price, but lost the smaller partner Transformer in the package.
In mid-2016, the line comtinued on with another theme, "Titans Return". The theme of the line was very similar to the G1 Headmasters, in that all of the characters had small detachable heads that could convert into little partner robots, called Titanmasters. Each Titan Master could swap heads with any other figure in the line. Beyond the usual size classes, an additional size class-- Titan Masters-- was added to the line, each retailing for ~$5 U.S., which came with only a small Titanmaster/head with no larger body, but a transformable vehicle/beast accessory instead.
Once 2018 arrived, the subtitle of the line changed to "Power of the Primes". This line was sort of a combination of "Combiner Wars" and "Titans Return"-- voyagers and deluxes once again all combined into gestalts, with voyagers forming the torso and deluxes the limbs, though the pieces that formed the hands and feet were a bit different this time. The Titan Master size class from "Titans Return" became "Prime Masters"-- 12 in all, each representing the 12 Primes (excepting Optimus), which transformed into decorated rectangles that could slot into and give "Powers" to the larger toys. Each Prime Master came with a Pretender suit, and each Legend-and-up toy in the entire line came with a bio card that randomly assigned one of the 12 Primes to the character, giving that character a specific power-- making the total number of Prime/character combinations mind-boggling. Leaders each had an "evolution" gimmick, in which they had a small figure that, when combined with an included Matrix and the rest of the toy, would become the "Prime" version of the character. Another price jump also came with the new lines-- deluxes became $20 U.S., voyagers $30 U.S., and leaders $50 U.S.
Beginning in 2019, the Generations line "rebooted" of sorts, starting with a Cybertronian "War for Cybertron" trilogy (not based on the video games), which is different enough from the "status quo" of Generations for a while I felt it was time to finally separate it into a separate section on the site, and to keep this page from getting TOO overly long.
