Transformers: Cybertron

During the course of Transformers: Energon, Unicron was destroyed. However, his implosion has created an imbalance in the universe, as well as a massive black hole that threatens Cybertron itself! Now, the Autobots have to hunt down the five planet keys to unlock Cybertron so the planet can save itself! Each planet key is on a different world, and the Autobots split up their forces in order to rescue all these ancient keys with the help of one of the original 13 Transformers, Vector Prime, who has the knowledge of where the Planet Keys are. Of course, the Decepticons want the power for themselves, and split up their forces as well. Thus begins Transformers: Cybertron, a line that began in early summer of 2005.
The Planet Keys are the central gimmick to Cybertron-- like the Minicons of Armada, they unlock gimmicks in their respective TFs. (However, the Powerlinx ports have been mostly removed from the new Cybertron toys, at least for the first half of the line...) Each planet gives each Transformer a different style planet key. In addition, the overall "look" of a Transformer varies depending on what planet they're on. Here are the different planets, as well as their respective themes:

-- Cybertron-- although some are labeled as "Earth Planet" toys in the Cybertron line, oddly enough, the Cybertron TFs are distinctly different from the Earth TFs proper. The Cybertron Transformers have a mostly clear planet key that comes with them, with silver mechanical detailing along the outside rim and the Transformers' allegiance symbol in the center. Cybertron's theme is various futuristic vehicle Transformers.
-- Earth-- Having a transparent blue planet key with an image of the sun rising over the Earth's horizon, Transformers on Earth have various realistic vehicle alt modes.
-- Speed Planet (Velocitron)-- The Transformers on Speed Planet have a transparent red Planet Key with a lighting bolt-like pattern through the middle, and various speed gauges on the rim. The Speed Planet Transformers all have highly futuristic, sleek, ground-based vehicle alt modes.
-- Jungle Planet-- All the Jungle Planet Transformers have a transparent green chip with an animal footprint in the center and claw-like details on the rim. As you can probably guess, Jungle Planet Transformers all transform into animals.
-- Giant Planet-- Showing up last in the line; Giant Planet inhabitants, for the most part, are futuristic construction vehicles with partner Minicons.
-- Planet X-- Only a few Transformers in the line come from Planet X, and they have angular metallic Planet Keys with Decepticon symbols. The Transformers from this mysterious planet look incredibly evil, even in their futuristic alt modes, and are allied to neither Autobot nor Decepticon.

An extra stat is added to all Cybertron reviews indicating their "home" planet. In addition, the code on the back of the Cyber Planet Keys was used on Transformers.com to see extra info about that Transformer!
One additional note is that in Summer 2006, near the end of the line, Hasbro added a secondary title under the name, "Primus Unleashed", mostly as a way to advertise the new big-ticket Transformer for the year. The line itself petered out in late 2006 to make way for Transformers Classics.

(Note: A few of the size categories have changed titles for the Cybertron line. The category traditionally known as "Basics" have become "Scout Class", the "Megas" have become "Voyager Class", and the "Supers" have become "Leader Class". To help with the transition, the newly-named size categories are listed in their Cybertron names first, then with their "traditional" names in parentheses afterwards. There has also been a new size class added, called "Minicon Battle Packs", which are packs of 2 Minicons for $5 each.)
