Transformers:
Autobot Alliance (2010)
The "Transformers: Autobot
Alliance" name goes by a few different monikers-- the "yellow packaged
Transformers", "Transformers 2010", "Hunt of the Decepticons", and "Reveal
the Shield". The "Autobot Alliance" line, sort of a "filler" line from
the end of the Revenge of the Fallen toyline in summer 2010 until the Dark
of the Moon toyline started up in late spring 2011, had a mix of movie-styled
Transformers and more classic-styled Transformers. What caused much of
the confusion about the name is that, for the first half of the line through
the end of 2010, the packaging simply said "Transformers". Many people
called this first half of the line "Hunt for the Decepticons" due to a
sticker on the front of the package advertising codes inside that could
unlock bonus content in an online game, but this was merely a marketing
gimmick-- the actual name of the line, as revealed on Hasbro informational
cards in front of displayed products at various conventions, was indeed
"Autobot Alliance". The 2010 half of the line consisted mostly of movie-styled
Transformers, though there were a few exceptions.
As the calendar flipped over
to 2011, like many Transformers lines "Autobot Alliance" gained a subtitle--
"Reveal the Shield", with blue interior plastic bubble packaging, as well
as the return of the heat-rub allegiance symbols that were present in the
original Generation One Transformers line.
The general packaging was the same, though, so this was more of a continuation
of the "Autobot Alliance" line rather than a whole other short-lived TF
line. For the "Reveal the Shield" figures, however, the style was much
more Classics-focused-- again, with a few exceptions.
In addition to the traditional
Legend/Scout/Deluxe/Voyager/Leader class scales, there was also an Activator
class added, featuring almost entirely spring-loaded transformations, though
they were a bit more uniform in their design than the Animated
Activators.
