After the AsA learned of the existence of the Federation's experimental and highly top secret Prometheus class Attack Cruiser, they decided to build their own. It took a long time to build, as the Prometheus was currently stranded in the Delta Quadrant. Finally, the AsA was able to secure some from an un-named source and complete their own working prototype, the Excalibur. Made with only modest improvements, the Excalibur is basically the same as the Prometheus. Not long after, the AsA perfected automated starship production and soon, 12 Wings of Prometheus Class ships were in service with the AsA.
