Heya !!
Here is a list of the duties and responsibility which all the members of the Application Team have to adhere to in their weekly duties. If you have any questions regarding any of the information below then let me know and I'll help you out as much as I can.

~ GENERAL POLICIES ~
1. We try to keep the membership of the Ap plications Team well stocked so that we can evenly and fairly distribute the workload. This is to make sure that it does not become a burden on your real life. As a result, you will receive about 3-5 applications for screening every week unless you have a ccepted more. Once you get the hang of it, it usually takes 10-15 minutes per batch to complete.
2. I realise that you have a life outside GAB and if you need a take a Leave of Absence due to vacation, illness, or pretty much any other reason please let me k now. Also if you decide that you can no longer cope with the extra work then let me know and I will retire you from the Applications Team
~ SCREENING APPLICATIONS ~
1. Every week, you will usually receive about 5 applications from me. The applications will be attached to e-mail usually labelled \ldblquote New GAB Apps\rdblquote . It is very important that you check these out as soon as you can, 2-3 days should be longest it takes for me to get a response from you. If you are unable to do this please let me know as soon as possible so that I may re-assign them to another member. This is very important and I need your full co-operation with this.
2. This is an example of a normal application for membership which I would send you;
When a potential new member fills out an application for membership, I will send them a letter automatically, the purpose of this letter is to let the potential new member know we are on the job and will have them on a team as soon as possible!
3. When the application gets to you its your job to check that it includes;
A full set of emails covering all problems is included with the Applications Pack, if you don't find one you need mail me. If no trading reference is included then please mail me and not the applicant. In cases like with this problem I will deal with the application myself.
4. If all these elements are complete, begin checking their application against the G.A.B Bad Trader's Database and against the G.A.B. membership database. Run their name, alias, and email through the membership database search engine. Also run these and their complete address through the Bad Trader's Database search engine. Check to make sure:
~ That they are not a Member of G.A.B.already, this is easy to do by running their details through the member search page. If you are unsure about your findings then let me know.
~ That they are not a Member of the G.A.B. Bad Traders List. If thir names or details appear on the Bad Trader List then let me know immediatly so I can informt he Grand Admiral.
~ That the Alias they requested is not being used already by another G.A.B. member. If it is, choose a tempo rary alias such as the first part of their e-mail address or their real name (make sure it is not already take too). Also make sure the Alias they ask for does not include;
- A. Bad Language, Swear words or Profanity
- B. A GAB Rank of any Sort ~ for example Lt. Picard is nor permitted
- C. Only Capital letters ~ for example TORIASDAX is not permitted, names such as
- R2D2 are allowed, any questions then ask me.
- D. No excess punctuation marks ~ for example Trek Trader!!!!! Is not permitted
5. Check the application to see if they included any special requests. Make a not of any and include them in your report to me. These usually are limited to special requests to join certain Teams but let me know if any special requests are made.
~ REPORTING RESULTS ~
1. This is the easiest part of the job. Once the screening process is done, you send me a single e-mail telling me what your found. All you need to send me is a simply email explaining what you found. Here is an example of an email that I should receive from you;
After you have done this there is little for you to do. If you are waiting for an applicant to respond then just mail me your findings when he/she gets back to you. If they never respond let me know and I will delete their application.
2. Remember if you have any suspicions about an application then let me know. We are here to protect GAB against bad traders and so we must feel happy about who we let in. I will examine any suspicions you have carefully.
~ HINTS ON HOW TO MAKE YOU JOB QUICKER AND EASIER ~
> The screening process should never take too long, after a while you should be able to get through 5 applications in about 15 minutes. Here are a few ways to speed it up
> When checking a person's name in the databases try typing in a part of their name if it is unique for example if you are looking for a person named: Asha Smith do a search for Asha
> When checking out a person's address in the bad trader's database do a search for their town, state and zip code . For example if you have an applicant from 746 Ocean Drive, Salem, MA 87696 . Do a search for MA 87696 and Salem.

As a final note, I cannot emphasize the words one of my predecessors; Admiral Stillfox, when he said regarding the Applications Team:
"The apps team is not only responsible for admitting new members, it is also the first line of defense against bad traders trying to join. So use your best judgment "
The Application Team is much more important than people realise - it is the most active part of GAB preventing infiltration by bad traders. So, good luck and please let me know if you need any help or advice - communication is the key to keeping this team working as good as it has been for a long time.
