Mars-mania

The one on the right was released April 6, 1998. The image on the left was taken on 07-13-2003. It is from the latest 16,000 Martian photographs released by Malin Space Science Systems on 04-22-04 (MSSS). The links are below. A lot of 'enhancing' was done. What appeared to be concave depressions or convex mounds have been filled in or spread? But, that aside, try to explain how geology created the stamped background around the top of the mesa where the image, by the way, seems to be centered. Another case of 'natural right angles'? http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/4_6_98_face_release/ http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/r03_r09/images/R07/R0700989.html
