Antecedent and Foundation

The production of Compost constitutes a very ancient and generalized practice the world over. They are known technical of industrial production of Compost in vat as well as in Cuba country, when are handled large organic residue volumes. Also it exists a great experience accumulated in the production of Compost of small proprietary in Latin America. They have been developed technical with activators that encourage the biological activity (Starter),

In Cuba have been accomplished recently studies on the effect of the Compost on soil and on the yield of the economic crops being expressed resulted very encouraging. Cairo 1995, Mayea 1996, Cairo and Machado 1997. In Mexico in the City Of Monterrey have been accumulated much experience on the use of the compost produced with the urban residues in the economic crops in the region. Vázquez 1998, where the levels of application oscillate between 2 and 10 t/there has. In Germany exist much experience in the utilization of the urban organic residues in the production of compost.

In our tropical conditions the systematical utilization of the compost, it can constitute a measure of great value for the improvement and maintenance of the fertility of soils; this practice is the one which permits to maintain the soil biodinamic and balanced physical, chemical and biologically and in better conditions for the crops production.

The group of investigations of the region has found in the last years 1993 - 1998 new concepts on the utilization of the organic residues integrating the use of the biofertilizers and of natural minerals; in this case not alone is feasible to achieve results in soil but also in the improvement of the substrates of organoponics or other alternative of vegetables production.

The production of Compost and their/its/your/his application to the soil constitutes one of the most complete activities in the development of an Organic or sustainable Agriculture under an agricultural production system where is present the animal and vegetable component.

It is needed to develop new technologies that accelerate the obtaining of a Compost of good quality; the various organic residues promotion for the production of Compost, the establishment of integral practices with the biofertilizers and natural minerals. These problems constitute challenges to the science and the technique in this field that yet they are not solved and that it can rebourd decisively on the foods production on a given production unit. The project includes 4 of years investigation whose beneficiary are small and medium average producing of the Field and the Urban Agriculture.

In this thematic attends collaboration of the University of Rostock Agricultural Sciences Faculty. Soils institute.
