I began writing poetry some time ago, and reached my current level of ability back in my last year of college.
I should mention that I do not usually write "in character" as myself. I say this only because I'm tired of having people read my poetry and then ask me if I'm in therapy. I have created a number of fictional personas in whose voices much of my poetry is written.
