Renard is the "bad guy" of the movie who has a bullet lodged in his brain which makes him immune to pain. Carlyle has had his head shaved for the role, so that we can see the scar above his eye resulting from a shot to
the head. The bullet remained there, because removal would be more dangerous. This has resulted in Renard's inability to feel pain,

or pleasure.  So I suppose this makes him the ultimate killing machine. Only a fatal shot to the head will be able to stop him, and, as another popular web site reported, "James Bond has been ordered to deliver that shot". Renard has taken part in much high-profile assassination work, and even kidnapped Elektra King, demanding a $5 million ransom. The ransom was not paid, and Elektra escaped, killing two guards on her way out. Although he is a young villain, just like Sean Bean's Trevelyan (GoldenEye), Renard poses a real physical threat to Bond, which should ensure some great fight scenes!
