Internationally renown band Garbage will
add its name to the long list of celebrated musical artists that includes
Sheryl Crow, Tina Turner, The Pretenders, Duran Duran,
Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Louis Armstrong and Nancy Sinatra when it
lends its talents to the creation of the title song for the new Bond film.
Comprised of bandmembers Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and
Butch Vig, Garbage will perform the title song, which is written by the
film’s composer, David Arnold, and Don Black, for The World Is Not Enough,
the 19th installment in the James Bond franchise starring Pierce
Brosnan as 007. The announcement was made jointly today by producers Michael
G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of Danjaq and Mike Sandoval, Executive Vice
President of MGM Music.
"We are thrilled to be working with such an innovative group and believe the collaboration between David Arnold, Don Black and Garbage will make this one of the most memorable of Bond songs," Wilson and Broccoli said.
"I am excited at the prospect of having a band of Garbage’s caliber performing the title song to The World Is Not Enough," Sandoval said. "Their musical artistry and Shirley Manson’s incomparable voice make Garbage the perfect match for Bond."
