Art and Writing Links
When my own mediocre offerings are not enough to satisfy you, these artistic and literary persons or organisations may bring some amusement. Enjoy!
Peter Clarke - I am rather fond of the whistful and whimsical, and Peter Clarke seems to have one of the most perfect children's illustration styles. Plus he does good monsters and some clicking steampunk monstrosities, as all good children's illustrators should.
Allison Theus - This woman builds monsters, working, anatomically believable, unique and gloriously grotesque monsters, like most people doodle stick figures. The things she doodles in ballpoint pen make me want to cry and shred my art gallery.
Ursula Vernon - One of my original muses. This exceptional, multi-talented woman has been a huge influence on me as an artist and writer, plus she can't half mangle a metaphor. I wish I could churn out art as quickly as she does, but then again, I'd have to give up both jobs, education and most other pursuits as well. Le sigh...
Aaron A - Clean, heavy, cartoon styled spooky-cute glory. I want to take Serenity Rose home and wrap her up in a blanket and feed her on gummy worms for all eternity...
Gothic Charm School - Even if you're not one of those terribly pedantic people who can spot an improperly used pronoun from the other side of the room, or knows which is the correct fork to use during the fish course (In other words, people like me) knowing how to behave is key to modern life. Even if you're not a Goth, get ye to this lovely young lady's website and either learn a thing or two or afirm yourself that you've been on the moral high-ground the whole time (And isn't it a lovely feeling?)
Lord Whimsy - Although the essays of the Mammal of Paradise are no longer avaliable on t'Interweb, they will soon be published in a small book (Which someone - I don't care who - absolutely must buy for me) and then all will be able to pursue 'Self Defense For Sissies' and 'Blue Collar Drag' to their hearts content. Oh, and he dresses well, which is always a plus.
