| the art of an insatiable perfectionist Last year I was checking out some concept art by artist Feng Zhu, who has done art for video games and films and was very, very inspired. I've drawn on and off throughout my life, and his work inspired me to get back into that fun. I was seriously considering attending art school to polish my skills and become a concept artist for video games. Through the time that I practiced I'd realised that drawing is the most frustrating creative endeavor for me. I am very perfectionist with my works and had really lacked confidence that I would ever improve. So I did the cool thing and simply quit and gave up the "dream". But I saved my work and here is for those curious. Click a thumbnail to view larger image. |
This is a quick sketch of a "shambler", a monster from the computer
video game Quake, by id Software. |
This was a random concept sketch of some
hardass woman. Obviously anatomy is not my strength and it shows here. |
Here is a creature I actually like, except
the legs should have been made stronger, and the abdomen too thin. I thought it'd work but some other artists feedback had the same complaints as
I see it now. |
Of all the concept work I did attempt, this is my favorite. I thought I did well,
but some people see a perspective issue in this drawing. This was done for someone that was working on 3D demonstration films. I never did get around to showing him
it (until now). |
This drawing had potential, some anatomy problems are present. I took the pose
from a Victorias Secret model in a magazine. |
Here is a comic I drew for my best friend.
It deals with how he likes to put on way too much cologne sometimes.. |
