Ladyfest meeting with Pippa, Hannah, Flo and myself was held today in the CAVERN CLUB (http://www.cavernclub.co.uk) and was extremely productive. we're (hopefully) going to hold the ART EXHIBITION in the cavern office; which is right next door on Gandy St. and will be the *perfect* location providing everything goes to plan. Hannah is working on the brochure as I write and we have a load of stuff to get onwith. There have been a lot of really exciting ideas floating around; see the events page for info on the fun stuff thats going to happen. Bingo anyone? YES PLEEEEEASE!!!

HELLOXOXXlalalalala -screaming you stumble across the NEW LADYFEST EXETER website;;; I can't do this kind of stuff so i'm just going to use this as an update/journal type site. So please be patient with me!

Ladyfest Exeter is a non-profit 3 day festival celebrating women in music and the arts, which takes place 16th - 18th April 2004 in various venues around Exeter, Devon. The event is dedicated to showcasing, promoting and encouraging the political and artistic talents of women in independent culture. By providing such a platform, Ladyfest enables us to realise and discover our own strengths, abilities and goals through music, film, visual and performance art, workshops and spoken word. Ladyfest is an all-inclusive, women-run event in which we are able to establish our own creative community, without the interference of oppressive, often male-dominated mainstream scenes.

The following was written by pippa and pretty much says it all.

Things are still being confirmed and stuff but so far it's looking like this..... (I'm sure Izzy will correct me if I'm wrong!) FRIDAY 16TH - In the afternoon we've got local acoustic acts playing in the Cavern bar while people eat their chips - there's a load of grrrl singer songwriters from Dartington college coming to play and then the WorryDolls are going to finish off. While that's going on there'll be exhibitions, knitiing and crafts organised by Izzy and her mum, and stalls and stuff. On friday night we've got the usual drum'n'bass with DJ Dazee and MC Chickaboo. SATURDAY 17th - in the afternoon we have a fanzine convention, so anyone who's got a zine of any type who wants to come and sell and swap and meet people, get in touch with me and izzy - pippawragg@hotmail.com & peppermint_skinny@hotmail.com. And there'll be other stalls and more knitting I'm sure. On saturday night we've got the mighty Klang headlining. Klang feature Donna from Elastica. With supports The Climb, Help! She Can't Swim! and Italian grrrl band The Uhu's. And Izzy DJing. SUNDAY 18th - we've got a cool film show lined up for the afternoon, so try and come down for that. Should be interesting. Following that we've got more bands - Holly Golightly, Snowfell, Hooker and The Alsatians, who also have a 15 minute story/ performance to present. So it's all coming together and looking really good. There's still a few more bands to come in, and things will probably change before the weekend, but this is where we're at right now! We'll keep you posted!!
