If you are serious about writing

The Pleasant Hills Writers’ Group is open to all writers, published or unpublished, from the novice to the award winning who want to improve and succeed in their craft.

purpose

To foster the development of local writers work through honest but fair criticism; to provide encouragement and inspiration to those authors as they write and submit their work for publication; and to provide a support network for those writers.

While there are no fees or dues, the Writers Group does require a serious commitment.

MEETING SCHEDULE

The first Writers’ Group will meet every other Tuesday 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning September 24.

format

The first session will be an opportunity to get acquainted with all members of the group and establish guidelines for critiquing one another’s work.

The subsequent sessions will include discussions, writing exercises, guest speakers and resource information.

Terry Tatrai has been an Administrator in the Vice President for Student Life Office at Duquesne University since 1988. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Duquesne. She served as Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and is a member of Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society and Kappa Tau Alpha Honor Society.

Terry was also a part-time instructor of Fiction Writing and Writing and Publishing courses for the Community College of Allegheny County, Institute of Corporate and Professional Development.

Joanna Blair has been a freelance journalist for the Greensburg and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review since 1996. She has won Keystone Awards through the Pennsylvania Newspapers Association in Investigative Reporting and Spot News.

Prior to relocating to Pennsylvania Joanna owned and operated Chatham Publications, Inc. a publishing company in North Carolina producing The Chatham Chronicle, a community newspaper and County Life, a quarterly magazine.

Joanna has been published in Woman’s World magazine as well as several smaller publications.

She is currently a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.
