My 2 cents on the one that didn't sell out
and By that I mean "Resident Evil:Apocalypse". We've had some pretty bad horror films in the past few weeks, "Exorcist:The Beginning" which was obviously made for no other purpose other than $$$, "Open Water" one of the lamest so called horror movies to hit theatres in a while, "Alien vs Predator" which sold out with a PG-13 rating just for the kiddies and soccer moms, and last but not least, "Anacondas" which not only sold out with a PG-13 rating, but also failed to have any snake action before the 50 minute mark of the film. Next Friday, comes "Resident Evil" apocalypse, which has not only a solid "R" rating, but also is rated "R" for non-stop violence. Meaning that were gonna be in for a wild ride from start to finish with very little time to turn to the person next to us and say *whoa did you see that?*. Tis what a horror film should be. Now I'll admit "Resident Evil" falls more along the line of horror/action, but I commend these people for knowing who their audience is, and not compromising their fanbase just to bring in the kiddies and soccermom crowd. Not like FOX with "AvsP" which if you're a fan of one or both series, you should feel betrayed that FOX sold us down the river just so they could milk a few more wallets dry. I havent seen "RE2" yet, but judging by the previews, and the fact that it was given a solid "R" rating despite the fact that it may cost them a few younger movie goers, I already like what I see.
