Mr HorRoR's 2 cents on The MPAA vs "Saw 2"

After a pretty lengthy vacation (mainly because nothing really controversial has happened) "Mr. HoRrOrs 2 cents" is back. My target this time? The MPAA and their huge *wigging out* about the poster for Lions Gates upcoming horror movie "Saw 2".Now heres a look at the poster for the film for those of you who haven't seen it yet or have short term memories.

Now for a film called "Saw" where you just know limbs and lots of blood will be lost just by reading the plot, hearing the title, and if you've seen the first movie, what other kind of poster would you expect?A picture of two severed fingers which also cleverly give the impression that this movie is a sequel,is it really that bad?A horror fan (myself included) would say not even close to being disturbing. But the MPAA guys are at it again and have banned this poster from ALL cinemas in the country.Meaning that if Lions Gate wants to distribute the posters to anyone they have to make some modifications to *wussy* it up a bit to the MPAAs liking. My 2 cents is this is absolutely ridiculous. It's bad enough that the MPAA has a big hand in the current PG-13 horror trend because thanks to them giving "R" rated horror movies that come across their desk a hard time in getting released and even getting an "R" rating, thus studios are making their horror films more kid friendly. But now they want to censor the posters too? At what point does it all end? At what point does the MPAA stop sticking their hands in everything we horror fans love and making it "kid friendly"? I have an idea, since the MPAA plays movie police with our cinema, maybe we need someone to police the MPAA.That way when they start censoring horror movies to the point where they even want the posters for a coming attraction "wussied" up a bit,the MPAA police can give them a swift kick in the ass and say "Don't push it".
