My 2 cents on Jamie Lee Curtises retirement
Well a few weeks ago, she announced that she was done with acting in general. due to her age, and also wanting to fulfill family commitments, in what has been a rough year with her mom dying recently. This after her name was included in practically every "Halloween 9" rumor from here to canada. While her last hurrah in her final showdown with Mikey in "Halloween:Resurrection" was a bittersweet moment, which played out exactly like I felt it should have in a wonderfully wicked moment (which was then destroyed by everything that followed in that movie), we should never forget what this woman has done for the horror genre. She was one of the few actresses in the horror genre that could actually act, even as she aged she got better. In a time where every movie studio was scrambling to cast the next hot blonde with little to no acting talent to ruin their newest teen slasher movie, Dimension films stayed true her character, and to the "Halloween" series by including Jamies character Laurie Strode in it's last 2 installments of the series. A series which Jamie Lee kicked off with the well known original "Halloween", and it's equally impressive (atleast in my eyes) sequel, "Halloween 2". Shes also done other horror movies outside of the "Halloween" films such as "The Fog", "Prom Night",and "Terror Train". As well as making her name known in the action movie and SCI-FI movie circles with "True Lies", and "Virus". But she will always be known mainly for her work in the "Halloween" movies. It was truly a treat for me as a horror fan to see her on screen with Donald Pleasance in the first 2 movies. Now with Donald having passed awhile ago, and Jamie Lee now out of the acting biz, the "Halloween" movies have lost two big reasons as to why we watch them other than Michael Myers. One thing is for sure though, any wild, creative ideas the writers of "Halloween 9" had to bring Laurie Strode back, have pretty much been "killed"...no pun intended.
