My 2 cents on House of The Dead
This film has been bashed by everyone and their moms. Granted it wasn't the greatest zombie film of all time, hell, not even close, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a shitload of fun. and In my opinion it was. However, thats not what irks me the most. What irks me the most is people who thought this film was gonna play out like a shakesperian production.
HELLO! It's based on a video game where the sole idea is to shoot as many zombies, creatures, etc as you can in order to increase your score! For christ friggin sake, it's not gonna be a "Great" movie by any stretch of the imagination, because the game itself is paper-thin plot wise. Even before it's release, there was talk of one character, an asian girl named "Liberty", who sported a stars and stripes bikini suit during the film. I think thats a huge sign, that the people behind this movie weren't exactly going for the intellectual/serious blood curdling horror movie award here folks. In conclusion, when all signs point to a film being a total cheesefest, as horror fans, don't go into movies like this hoping or expecting something on a high caliber scale, when after seeing the previews, and reading director interviews, and info on the film, you know it's gonna be one of those check your brain and any laws of gravity at the door type of movies. As absurd as most horror fans found "HOTD", it's even more absurd for those same fans to have gone into this film knowing it was gonna be a waste of their hard-earned dough, and then complaining when that realization came true. This is the type of film that can be enjoyed when not taken seriously. Maybe more horror fans will see it as just the mindless yet entertaining zombie cheesefest that I saw it as, if they watch it with a non-serious/low expectation mindset.
