Grizzly Bear

·
First a necessity
to acquire the permit is a suitable portion of land. For a bear a plot of land 50’x50’ is a
suitable habitat. This land should be fenced
and should be plentiful in trees and berry bushes (this will cut down on the
food you have to buy). A 20-30 gallon
watering hole for bathing drinking and if you supply it with fish feeding.
·
A Bear’s diet
consists of consuming berries and meat.
The season will decide what the bear will eat, during spring they may
eat grass, moss, and roots. In summer
time they will eat more berries, bulbs and tubers. They eat small animals and insects year
round. Bears tend to eat about 10% of
their body weight in a day. So if your
bear grows to be large, be prepared to be spending a ton of money on food. A bear will eat much more during late fall to
prepare for winter hibernation. It may
break of this habit because it may realize that you are feeding it and it has
no need to sleep.
·
Grizzly males
have been known to grow up to 1700, and as low as 200 lbs in exceptional
cases. The average is around 800 lbs.
·
Their life span
is generally 25-30 years but they have been known to live up to 50 while in
captivity.
·
They become
sexually mature around 4-6 years old, but will grow up to 10-12 years old.
·
Keep any garbage
or hazardous materials away from their habitat, bears have been known to eat
garbage when hungry.
