12.01.2003

(#1) Obligatory Nude Scene (10-3) 120 vs. (#10) Sweet Sister Mercy (4-9) 73

So this game had little to do with the overall playoff picture. Mike earns the (#10) seed by posting a final record of (4-9). He is in the consolation bracket and will face the (#7) seed. Derrick, on the other hand takes the (#1) seed out right, with the best record in the DWFFL. He’s got a bye next week and will then play the winner of the (#3-#6) match-up.

(#5) The Horny Priests (8-5) 79 vs. (#12) Silent But Deadly (0-13) 63

With the win, Jason got a spot in the playoffs. Where? See the Showstoppa’s vs. Boon Dock saints for that explaination. Hartnell on the other hand becomes the first team I have ever seen to loose every game. He will play the (#11) for the first round pick in next years draft. You must win the game to get the #1 pick.

(#2) Mee So Howrnee (9-4) 93 vs. (#6) La Revolucion (8-5) 68

By winning, Gary takes over sole possession of first place in the west at (9-4). Why? Look at the Showstoppa’s vs. Boon Dock Saints for that explanation. Brian on the other hand looses and creeps into the big show as the final seed (#6). Why? See below. Gary gets the (#2) seed and a first round bye next week. Why? See The Mossters vs. That One Team for that story.

(#8) The Mossters (6-7) 91 vs. (#3) That One Team (9-4) 111

Todd gets bushwhacked in a game that had little meaning. Todd gets the (#8) seed and will play the (#9) in the first round of the consolation bracket. Scott with the win put himself in a spot to take over the (#2) spot in the playoffs and in turn get a bye next week. However, with Gary’s win, Scott looses the head to head tie breaker 1-0 after loosing to him 89-85 in week 8. Gary gets the (#2) and the bye, Scott gets the (#3) and the first round match-up vs. the (#6) seed Brian.

(#7) The Showstoppa’s (8-5) 70 vs. (#5) The Boon Dock Saints (8-5) 70

This game was unbelievable. And it lead to a number of tie-break issues. Greg got 8 points from Santana Moss on Monday night. That made this game a tie. Well in the event of a tie, the tie break comes in the form of head coaches. Greg has Jim Haslett (Saints) and Neil has Herm Edwards (Jets). Both coaches won this week. The next tie-break comes in the form of coaches overall record. With that, Haslett (6-6) is better than Edwards (5-7) so the tie-break victory goes to Greg. Sorry Neil.

This is just the start though. With that result, there are 3 (8-5) teams in the same division, not to mention the other (8-5) team in the central. According to NFL.com and the wild card tie-break rules, we rank the wild card eligible teams and rank them based upon division record. This model gives the (#4) to Greg (4-2) and drops Neil (2-4) out of the mix and to the (#7) hole. This leaves two teams, Belz and Brian, with (3-3) records in their division. To break this tie, we go back to the head to head tie-break which puts Belz ahead of Brian because Belz won the only meeting 96-70 in week 5. Jason gets the (#5) and Brain gets the last playoff spot at (#6).

The loss by Neil gives Gary the outright division title at (9-5).

(#9) Pog Mo Thon (5-8) 95 vs. (#11) The Flying Monkees (3-10) 69

Beth looks like a playoff team at times. With the win she takes over the (#9) seed in the playoffs and will have a consolation game next week vs. the (#8) seed Todd. Heather meanwhile will play in the much anticipated Stooper Bowl which pits the two worst teams in the league against each other to vie for the #1 pick in next years rookie draft. This year Heather (#11) will face (#12) Hartnell for the honor.

Next week… THE PLAYOFFS

Byes: (#1) Derrick and (#2) Gary

The Big Show: Quarter finals….

(#3) Scott vs. (#6) Brian. - Brian won the only meeting this year 66-54 in week 11.

(#4) Greg vs. (#5) Belz – Belz won the only meeting this year 91-87 in week 7.

Consolation round: Quarter finals….

(#7) Neil vs. (#10) Mike – Neil won the only meeting this year 104-75 in week 7.

(#8) Todd vs. (#9) Beth – A division rivalry that Todd owned going 2-0 vs. Beth this year.

The Stooper Bowl:

(#11) Heather vs. (#12) Hartnell – Heather took the only meeting this year 68-27 in week 6.

11.24.2003

Next week is the final week of the regular season. There is only one spot left for the big show and two teams to take it. This week though…

(#1) Obligatory Nude Scene (9-3) 97 vs. (#6) The Horny Priests (7-5) 70

Derrick gets a huge win and in the process clinches the central division. They have now posted their best ever regular season record regardless of what happens next week. Jason meanwhile, has lost both games this year to Derrick and they’re backing into the playoffs. If Derrick wins, he’ll get the number one seed in the big show. Also, if Derrick looses, he can clinch the #1 if wins but can’t outscore him by a billion points. Jason will squeak into the playoffs with a win, or a loss and a loss by Greg. If Jason were to loose, and Greg win, Jason is out.

(#10) Sweet Sister Mercy (4-8) 86 vs. (#12) Silent But Deadly (0-12) 50

Mike and Hartnell are just kind of floundering in the wake of the top teams. Mike gets a win for respect and Jason is just sorry. Mike will be in the consolation bracket almost for sure now, while Jason will most likely fight Heather for the #1 pick next year.

(#5) Mee So Howrnee (8-4) 61 vs. (#4) The Showstoppa’s (8-4) 73

In a game that created a "slog" in the west, Neil catches up to everyone to create a massive 8-4 tie. Gary has now lost both games to Neil this year which is a tie break nightmare. But because Brian owns the tie break on Neil, it all falls to division record. Well, Neil and Gary are tied there. So most points scored gives Neil the #4. Anyway, if Gary wins next week and Neil looses, Gary takes the division. If Neil wins and Gary wins, then Neil takes the division. If Neil looses, he is out of the playoffs.

(#8) The Mossters (6-6) 90 vs. (#9) Pog Mo Thon (4-8) 74

Todd looses out on the big show but not after a valiant fight. Beth is kinda creeping around the bottom, waiting to eat Heather. Beth and Todd will be in the consolation bracket.

(#2) La Revolucion (8-4) 70 vs. (#7) Boon Dock Saints (7-5) 75

Brain maintains the division lead through a slew of tie breaks, despite a loss. Greg gets a huge win! If Greg wins next week, he is in. If he looses, he is out. Currently, he holds the tie break on Neil. If he beats him again next week, it over, he is in. Brian meanwhile, can take the division with a win. That will give him the #2 seed.

(#3) That One Team (8-4) 82 vs. (#11) The Flying Monkees (3-9) 47

Scott backs into the playoffs after a mini-slide toward the end here. Heather will most likely play in the first pick game. Scott can get the number one with a win, a Derrick loss, a Brian loss and a Neil win, but he has to outscore Derrick by 283 in the process.

11.18.2003

Week 11 – The Push Begins

(#1) Obligatory Nude Scene (8-3) 72 vs. (#7) The Boon Dock Saints (6-5) 78

Derrick, who clinched a playoff berth last week was asleep at the wheel this week and gave Greg some life in his drive for the playoffs. Greg still needs help to get in, but winning will keep him alive.

(#10) Sweet Sister Mercy (3-8) 65 vs. (#4) Mee So Howrnee (8-3) 75

Mike’s season ended officially last week and his team took it easy all day. Gary clinches a berth in the playoffs and maintains a tie for first in the west. Mike looks forward to playing spoiler. As well as the consolation bracket.

(#6) The Horny Priests (7-4) 73 vs. (#5) The Showstoppa’s (7-4) 111

This was a huge game in terms of the playoff picture. With the loss, Jason gets knocked to the final spot for the playoffs while Neil, who holds the tie-break on Jason, gets the 5 seed. Jason could have clinched with a win, but now must watch out for Greg who is right on his tail. Neil too, must be careful of Greg.

(#8) The Mossters (5-6) 105 vs. (#12) Silent But Deadly (0-11) 39

Todd stays alive, just barely, with this win. Jason, with the loss, wins the 12 seed in the league. Yup. He can’t move up from here. That means he has a date for the first rounder next season. Todd needed losses from some key people for a wild card berth. That didn’t happen. His only chance now, the division.

(#2) La Revolucion (8-3) 66 vs. (#3) That One Team (7-4) 54

Brian gets a huge win. Not only does it keep him alive for the west title, but he now holds a tie break over a division leader which can get him a bye in the playoffs. The win also clinched a spot for him. Scott, meanwhile, is backing into the playoffs, which are still no guarantee with Todd breathing down his neck. If lighting were to strike and Scott were to loose out and Todd win out, Scott would loose the division.

(#9) Pog Mo Thon (4-7) 100 vs. (#11) The Flying Monkees (3-8) 61

This was a meaningless game in terms of the playoffs, but in terms of draft picks, well, Derrick owns the rights to both of them so it is mostly for pride. Beth won.

11.04.2003

(#1) Obligatory Nude Scene (7-2) 90 vs. (#2) La Revolucion (6-3) 81

So Brian looses and moves up in the rankings. Tie breaker hell. Derrick is cruising after a loss to Todd 2 weeks ago. He is now in control of the #1 spot in the league. Brian can get a bye in the playoffs if he can maintain his current status among the league elite.

(#7) The Boon Dock Saints (5-4) 80 vs. (#8) Pog Mo Thon (3-6) 72

Greg gets a huge win for his playoff life. Beth gets a demoralizing defeat. Her playoff dreams are all but dead as it would take a miracle to make it now. Greg is still on the outside looking in, but holds his destiny in his hands with the division he plays.

(#4) The Horny Priests (6-3) 93 vs. (#6) Mee So Howrnee (6-3) 82

Belz gets a big win over a strong opponent. Gary can’t seem to win the big games. If Gary isn’t careful, he could miss the show. Belz has tunnel vision for the week 12 rematch with Derrick.

(#9) The Mossters (3-6) 68 vs. (#10) Sweet Sister Mercy (3-6) 65

Todd gets a moral victory, but the help he needed in order to find the playoffs didn’t show up. Now it will require a miracle to make the show. Mike is in even worse shape as he doesn’t have the tie break over any of the key teams in front of him.

(#12) Silent But Deadly (0-9) 75 vs. (#5) The Showstoppa’s (6-3) 92

Hartnell becomes the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. One more loss and he could be eliminated from the consolation playoffs. But not all is bad, he is at least respectable now. Neil gets strong victory and moves up into a tie for the lead in the west. Don’t look now, but all 4 teams could make it from that division.

(#11) The Flying Monkees (3-6) 104 vs. (#3) That One Team (6-3) 51

Scott looses, but does it matter? 3 games up with 4 to play in the weakest division in the history of the DWFFL. Heather’s playoff heart is beating, but she can’t loose again.

I was going to make a playoff synopsis. But with 4 teams at 6-3 and another 4 at 3-6… I’m not going to bother.

10.28.2003

Team stats have been updated.

#12 Silent But Deadly (0-8) 77 vs. #8 Pog Mo Thon (3-5) 91

For the frist time this year, Jason scored some points.  Unfortunately only 3 teams scored less and Beth was not one of them.  Hartnell will get a win this year.  Don't let it be you!  Beth meanwhile, cruised to a big win as she is still in the hunt.  Beth is 2 back of a wild card and 3 of the division.  Jason's magic number to the draft pick game; 3 losses in 5 games.

#1 Obligatory Nude Scene (6-2) 124 vs. #9 Sweet Sister Mercy (3-5) 91

In the shoot out of the week, Derrick out raced Mike in a big way.  Mike has fallen off the pace and is a long way back now.  Mike is right where Beth is.  Derrick however, moves into the #1 overall spot after some messy tie breakers are factored in.

#3 That One Team (6-2) 85 vs. #2 Mee So Howrnee (6-2) 89

Gary takes a huge win from Scott.  Because of the tie breakers, Scott falls from 1st to 3rd.  All of a sudden there is a 4 way tie for the top spot.  Scott can start looking back as he has a surging Beth to deal with.  Gary, he knows he is in a pot full of crap and it is a weekly fight to stay in the hunt.

#10 The Mossters (2-6) 83 vs. #5 The Hornt Priests (5-3) 94

Todd needed a win. He didn't get it.  Pack it in, he is all done.  Todd is 3 back with 5 to play of the wild card, and that isn't factoring in the tie breaks.  Belz meanwhile keep pace with a gutsy win.

#4 La Revolucion (6-2) 106 vs. #6 The Showstoppa's (5-3) 63

Dobbs is still in the thick of things as he is tied for the best record in the league.  Neil looses a key division game and falls all the way to the cusp, the final spot of the playoff picture.

#11 The Flying Monkees (2-6) 63 vs. #7 The Boon Dock Saints (4-4) 68

Greg is on the outside looking in at the playoffs, but is in a good position to get things done because he is in the division of hell.  Win your division games, Greg, you'll be fine.  Heather meanwhile is is just about done.  She is where Todd is, but worse.

10.20.2203

#11 The Flying Monkees (2-5) 70 vs. #4 Mee So Howrnee (5-2) 71

The worst thing in the world is the 1 point loss. That being said, it isn’t even fun to be the winner of the one point game. Gary gets a huge victory while Heather gets to wonder what might have been if Mason had 40 yards instead of 39. Gary remains tied for first in the west.

#7 Sweet Sister Mercy (3-4) 75 vs. #3 The Showstoppa’s (5-2) 104

Mike ran into a saw this week as Neil was not to be denied. Neil has won 3 straight and is back in the division lead. Mike has fallen off the pace and is a game off the pace for a playoff berth.

#2 Obligatory Nude Scene (5-2) 104 vs. #10 The Mossters (2-5) 111

Oh… the humanity. Todd goes from zero playoff chance, to, if nothing else, a pulse with a huge upset win over Derrick. Derrick didn’t really get hurt by the loss as he still remains in first of the central and still maintains a large point scored margin.

#5 La Revolucion (5-2) 69 vs. #9 Pog Mo Thon (2-5) 65

And Beth looses another squeaker. It really is sad. Beth has a 5-2 team if she had played a better schedule. Instead she is fading in the playoff race. Brian on the other hand gets off the loosing streak. Just in time too as he is in a very strong division that could send all 4 to the show.

#1 That One Team (6-1) 66 vs. #12 Silent But Deadly (0-7) 55

The only news from this game is that Jason scored some points! Oh.. and Scott has proven that he is a superb regular season team. How ‘bout them playoffs ehh?

#8 Boon Dock Saints (3-4) 87 vs. #6 The Horny Priests (4-3) 91

Greg looses a heartbreaker as this hurts his playoff chances in a big way. Jason meanwhile gains a game on Derrick and sits just one back in the Central. As it stands now, Greg is in the toughest division and has lost the tie breaker with the two non-division opponents that he is battling for a wild card berth.

10.14.2003

There are some teams begining to pull away in the league now.

#2 Obligatory Nude Scene (5-1) 84 vs. #7 The Horny Priests (3-3) 77

Derrick squeaks by "scary bye week" 2 of 3 with another win.  Basically it was just a matter of luck as William Green, the spot starter for LaDanian who is on bye busted out for 22 points.  The Miami D got another 18 which made the win all the more improbable.  Call it payback for a tough loss last year because of Alexander and his super man game.  Derrick remains #2 bye tie breaker, Jason is the odd man out of the playoffs because of tie breaker.

#6 Sweet Sister Mercy (3-3) 68 vs. #9 Pog Mo Thon (2-4) 78

Going into Monday it looked like Mike would get an easy win.  Then the Price, Crumpler, Feely combo hooked up for 3 points giving Beth an easy win.  Mike stays at the #6 seed based on tie breakers.  Beth is the same as last week but she gained a game on the playoffs and is only one game back for a berth.

#10 The Flying Monkees (2-4) 68 vs. #12 Silent But Deadly (0-6) 27

Heather gets an easy win, almost like a bye week.  Jason sets another all time record low for points scored, beating last weeks record he set.  When Fgaulk gets back, this team could be dangerous, till then, he is stuck.  Heather moves just one game back from the playoffs.  Put a fork in Jason, its just about done.

#8 The Boon Dock Saints (3-3) 62 vs. #1 That One Team (5-1) 87

Scott just keeps goiong with his little team that could.  It just looks bad on paper, but it #1 in the league.  Greg meanwhile, cannot get a break.  he is the on the outside looking in at the playoffs right now, but that is based on tie breaker only.

#11 The Mossters (1-5) 43 vs. #3 The Showstoppa's (4-2) 65

For Todd, it just keeps getting worse.  He has lost two heart breakers this year already both by one point, he has gotten screwed by strange scoring plays twice now, and this once promising team has fallen nearly out of the race.  There is stil hope as they are only 2 games out of the playoffs.  But that is as far as todd can afford to fall.  2 games in 7 weeks is a tough one.  Neil has gotten rolling again and sits in first.  Can't complain with that.

#5 La Revolucion (4-2) 66 vs. #4 Mee So Howrnee (4-2) 84

Brian was the undefeated and undistupted leader of the DWFFL.  Now he has lost 2 in a row and fallen to #5.  Gary is beating up his division and little else as he is gaining momentum for a playoff push.  Brian needs to get back on track.

10.07.2003

This week was wrought with controversy, parity, knockout battles and of course humility.

Another side note, the west is the best division in the league, but the central holds the tie breaks at this point and the west keeps beating on itself while the central gets to play the mighty weak east.  Tie breakers determine every ranking at this point except for #12.. which yeah.. sorry Jason.

#2 Obligatory Nude Scene (4-1) 83 vs. #11 The Flying Monkees (1-4) 58

Derrick continues to roll after his week one loss to Scott.  Heather, like the other teams in the east are barely staying above water.  Derrick has passed scary bye week situation 1 of 3.  He maintains his out right lead in the central by one game.  Heather is tied for second in the east but looses the tie break thus far.

#8 Mee So Howrnee (3-2) 88 vs. #9 Pog Mo Thon (1-4) 79

Gary gets an unexpected surge of points from Pittman and rolls to a victory that he needed if he wanted to stay alive in the west.  Beth, just hasn't had the luck this year.  She drops to (1-4) and is falling quickly out of the playoff race.

#4 Sweet Sister Mercy (3-2) 74 vs. #12 Silent But Deadly (0-5) 28

This game was just funny.  Mike needed a win, and was given a bye week worth of challenge by Jason and his record low point total.  5 players scored more points this week than Jason's entire team!  Mike is the best 2nd place team.

#6 Boon Dock Saints (3-2) 115 vs. #7 The Showstoppa's (3-2) 110

If the playoffs were to start today, Greg would get in and Neil would not as the tie breaker goes to the winners.  By dropping 2 in a row Neil has become an average team after a blistering start.  You can't hang a loss like this on Neil though.  Scoring 110 points will get a win 9 out of 10 times.

#10 The Mossters (1-4) 82 vs. #1 That One Team (4-1) 83

In the most controvercial game of the week, and much research by the comissioner on scoring rules, the Bucs D, scores 16 points on monday night to steal one away from Todd.  In case you are not aware, Brad Johnson threw an interception, it was returned a few yards by Indy corner Mike Doss and was then fumbled.  Keenan McCardell returned the fumble 50+ yards for the score.  The score goes to the Tampa Bay D as it is technically a defensive score according to Yahoo.com, Fanball.com and the NFL official scoring rules.  Ugly.  With the win, Scott jumps out to a 3 game lead in the east and a #1 ranking based on tie breakers.  Todd meanwhile is ready to jump off the cliff.

#2 La Revolucion (4-1) 70 vs. #5 The Horny Priests (3-2) 96

Brian is no longer undefeated.  He still holds onto his division lead thoguh and the rest of the west beat up on eachother.  Belz meanwhile is proving to be a strong team and is just one back in the central.  Nate to Brian... avoid starting players on bye.  And when submitting lineups... try not to be drunk.

#3 Obligatory Nude Scene (3-1) 129 vs. #4 The Showstoppa's (3-1) 61

Derrick takes an outright lead of the Central division with a commanding victory over Neil who was #1 coming into the game.  Derrick is #3 based on tie breaker.  However, it is worth note that Derrick is the leading scorer this year and has 422 points in 4 games.  That is only 2 points off the pace set last year by Scott.  Neil slips to 2nd in the west with the loss.

#10 The Mossters (1-3) 51 vs. #9 Pog Mo Thon (1-3) 59

Congrats to Beth on netting her first victory ever with the decisive division victory.  Todd's team is like the Saints.  They have the talent, they just don't produce.  Beth on the other hand is willing to stay the course, and it is paying off as she has been competitive in nearly every game.  Beth now holds tie break over Todd.

#1 La Revolucion (4-0) 82 vs. #12 Silent But Deadly (0-4) 45

Brian is off to a scortching start, staying undefeated by bashing on the poorest team in the league.  For the first time, maybe ever, Jason netted zero points from both starting RB slots.  He didn't get a single point.  Ouch.  It is no coincidence that Brian is undefeated, and by a large margin, leads the league in fewest points allowed.

#7 The Boon Dock Saints (2-2) 87 vs. #8 Mee So Howrnee (2-2) 86

In an amazing come from behind victory, Greg takes out Gary by one point.  He got 19 from the A-Train on Monday night.  After a sprinters start, Gary has slowed down by dropping two in a row.  Worse is that they have both been to division opponents.  Greg is a grinder, and he is grinding out a .500 record till he can get Portis healthy.

#5 Sweet Sister Mercy (2-2) 61 vs. #2 That One Team (3-1) 69

Mike continues the up and down ride this week, dropping one to Scott.  Scott is primed to run away with the horrible east with a strong non-division showing.  He is 2-1 outside the confines of his division.  Mike on the other hand is up and down.  He owns the tie break on Jason though, giving him second place in the central.

#11 The Flying Monkees (1-3) 103 vs. #6 The Horny Priests (2-2) 95

Heather finally got the production from her team she has been looking for.  Belz did too, just not 40 points from one player production.  Its a big win for Heather as she hangs with her division.  Its a bigger loss for Jason who drops a game back of Derrick in the Central.

Analysis

I don't think that it is a coincidence that the 5 teams that haven't cracked the 200 point mark in points scored this year are the only teams to have loosing records.

What does it mean when the top 4 teams in points allowed are in the same division?

09.22.2003

Note:  The website is pretty much updated... except for the sortable stats.  There are no stats up for players yet.  The team stats are for the first 2 weeks only.  Standings are up, lineups are complete and rosters are done.  - Derrick

Scores

#2 Obligatory Nude Scene (2-1) 102 vs. #11 Silent But Deadly (0-3) 69

Derrick moves up to #2 in the league with a dominating win over the improving but still far away team run by Hartnell.  Both teams have gone in different dirrections since meeting in last years league championship.  Derrick takes over the scoring lead having topped the century mark twice already.  Things are bad for Jason.  Not only is he clipping along at scoring rate that is 4th worst in the league, he is also giving up the second most points thus far.  On a side note, Faulk was the only thing this team had left.  Thats too bad.

#3 That One Team (2-1) 70 vs. #10 Pog Mo Thon (0-3) 45

Scott leads a division that will likely beat up on itself through out the season, with Beth getting the first wounds.  On paper, Beth looks as good as Scott.  Too bad paper don't play.  Scott is middle of the pack in scoring and in points allowed, but he is the best of the lousiest which gives him a division lead.  Beth on the other hand while in the middle of the pack in scoring, has given up a league high 271 points.  This isn't her fault, but it isn't helping.  Scott accounts for 2/3 of his divisions win total.

#4 La Revolucion (3-0) 57 vs. #9 The Boon Dock Saints (1-2) 43

At 3-0 Brian is one of two teams that are currently undefeated.  Unfortunately, that other team is in his division as well making his team look worse than it is.  In a remarkably close game, Brian had the more dominant kicker, and in turn, the victory.  Greg is nearly dead last in scoring at this point.  Brian is toward the top in scoring and in least points allowed.  That makes winning easier.

#1 The Showstoppa's (3-0) 89 vs. #7 Mee So Howrnee (2-1) 58

Neil has assembled a very dominant team that is lead by strong RB play.  In a battle of undefeateds, Gary just didn't show up.  Both these teams however, are very dangerous.  Both are near the top in points scored and in least points allowed.  The story over the next few weeks is who performs better in the division.  Neil wins round number 1.

#5 Sweet Sister Mercy (2-1) 86 vs. #6 The Horny Priests (2-1) 79

The roller coaster continues as Mike hit another peak this week taking out the strong yet Horny Priests lead by Belz.  Another dominating performance by the Priest outlined the plan for Mike early.  Technically, Mike is higher in the rankings but that is because of the head to head tie break.  Belz has the second heighest scoring team in the league, while Mike is 4th.

#12 The Flying Monkees (0-3) 54 vs. #8 The Mossters (1-2) 65

This was just a miserable game.  Mostly because Todd whined about his team non-stop.  At any rate, in a division that may have a below .500 second place finisher, Todd drew first blood against Heather.  Things just aren't falling into place for Heather this go round as he people can't seem to find any consistency.  Todd however, trades so much it is hard to get a read on his team.  As it stands, Heather is dead least in scoring, Todd is 3rd worst.  Both teams are middle of the pack in points allowed.  Hence, there is still hope.  Just ask Dobbs, the king of the last season surge.

Results

Obligatory Nude Scene (2-0) 113 vs. Pog Mo Thon (0-2) 78

Derrick needed a win to keep pace with a fewe others in his division and that is exactly what he got.  Exploding back into his form from a year ago, Derrick put up 113 points.  The heighest total thus far.  Beth on the other had was simply out matched.  She keeps up though in her division as all 4 teams in the East lost!  Ouch.

That One Team (1-1) 89 vs. The Horny Priests (2-0) 101

Jason has beaten Scott this week and it shoud be noted Jason is the heighest scoring team thus far in the league.  He also assumes the #1 overall ranking.  If you remember from last year, Jason opened the season by facing 4 100 point scoring teams in a row.  Not so this year.  With the win Jason remains in first of the Central.  Scott meanwhile keeps his ownership of the division lead because all the other teams are (0-2).

The Mossters (0-2) 75 vs. The Boon Dock Saints (1-1) 79

It was the closest gome of the year thus far.  Both teams were coming off dismal performances in week one, but turned around quite nicely.  It was a matter of picking the wrong guys this week for Todd as his bench scored as many points as his starters did.  Greg meanwhile gets the his first win in the league, and only the 4th win ever for the franchise.

Silent But Deadly (0-2) 59 vs. Mee So Howrnee (2-0) 70

Last year Jason was the 3rd heighest scoring team in the league.  This year the team has little to no depth and can't score if his life were dependant upon it.  Gary meanwhile looks impressive after jumping to a quick (2-0) start.

Sweet Sister Mercy (1-1) 73 vs. La Revolucion (2-0) 90

I think its going to be a roller coaster rige for Mike this year as his team is full of potential yet wrought with inconsistency.  Brian meanwhile is off to a fast start, and can actually score.  It should be noted that in 4 years of fantasy football, I don't think I have ever seen Brian start 2-0.

The Flying Monkees (0-2) 57 vs. The Showstoppas (2-0) 92

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  It will come together for Heather eventually as she has the deepest team of youngins in the league.  Scoring could be an issue this year, though she has gotten inconsistent play from some star players.  Neil on the other hand is showning some dominance.  Another very solid game puts him near the top in the overall rankings.

Preview

(# 7) Obligatory Nude Scene (0-1) vs. #8 Pog Mo Thon (0-1)

It is must win for Derrick as two of the teams in his division have a victory.  Beth on the other hand is in the poorest division and isn't in such a tough spot.  Both teams would like to score more and that is the goal heading into Sunday.  Derrick leads the all time series vs. this franchise 2-0.

(#12) The Mossters (0-1) vs. (#11) The Boon Dock Saints (0-1)

Normally a 11 vs. 12 match-up would get the "Stooper Bowl" game of the week, however, that right goes to a game based upon history.  In this non-conference tilt, Todd comes off a dismal performance last week where he scored a whopping 44 points.  Greg didn't fare much better with his 58 point performance though.  History is on the side of Greg in this match-up... Todd is well known for playing the highest scoring teams on a weekly basis.

(#10) Silent But Deadly (0-1) vs. (#1) Mee So Howrnee (1-0)

Its another one of those sentimental family affairs.  Last years runner up, Jason, is going to have a tough time scoring points it looks like.  Gary meanwhile looks like points will be no issue.  On paper this is a blow out.. but so was Derricks game vs. Scott last week.

(#5) Sweet Sister Mercy (1-0) vs. (#6) La Revolucion (1-0)

Both these teams are coming off mediocre wins last week and find themselves in the middle of the pack.  One of them will emerge as a team to beat in this league.  The question is who.

Stooper Bowl!!!

(#4) The Showstoppa's (1-0) vs. (#9) The Flying Monkees (0-1)

I'd like to point out this is based on history.  No two teams scored less points while playing eachother last year than these two.  The games were low scoring boring... and not even close considering.  This year though both teams are strong.  Heather is coming off a tough loss and Neil has a good team.

Game of the week:

(#3) That One Team (1-0) vs. (#2) The Horny Priests (1-0)

This match-up is kind of based upon history as well.  Over the last 4 years I have looked forward to playing both of these guys as well as watching the outcomes of their games.  Both look to have good teams and this should be another great game.

News

Obligatory Nude Scene (0-1) 78 vs. That One Team (1-0) 86

Scott's little team of misfits have slain the defending champions on the strength of the Tampa Bay D and Joey Harrington.  Yes, that Joey Harrington.  He played the Cardinals.. comon.  Derrick looses on opening day for the second straight year.  Don't look now, Scott is in first.

Silent But Deadly (0-1) 59 vs. The Horny Priests (1-0) 93

This game wasn't even close.  Hartnell's leading scorer was his defense.  That about sums up his day.  His super stars didn't show up.. no depth no points.  Belz had an all around effort from his team and started the season solid.  He leads his division.

Sweet Sister Mercy (1-0) 83 vs. The Boon Dock Saints (0-1) 58

As for the story of Greg, look above and see Hartnell's synopsis.  No depth, no points.  Two players scored over 4 points.  Ouch.  As for Mike, it is nice to see Holmes is back in working order.  Another solid effort makes his team look good.

The Mossters (0-1) 44 vs. Mee So Howrnee (1-0) 101

Last year Todd gave up the most points in the league.  This year he has given up the most points in the league.  Try scoring more.  44 points just aren't gonna do it.  I am sure Todd would like to sweep this one under the rug.  Gary on the other hand started the season very well.  The only team to top 100 points, 4 players got over 19!  Gary is in first.

The Flying Monkees (0-1) 61 vs. La Revolucion (1-0) 73

The game of the week was the typical slug fest that Brian and Heather have.  But for the first time Brian came out on top.  Thats really about it.  This game was boring.  Sorry.

Pog Mo Thon (0-1) 70 vs. The Showstoppa's (1-0) 88

So Beth's first ever game was respectable, but not a win.  She was out backed.  Neil's QB and both RB's out scored Beth's.  That is usually a good recipie for a win.

Next week:

Derrick vs. Beth; Hartnell vs. Gary; Mike vs. Brian; and Todd vs. Greg

The game of the week: Belz vs. Scott.  This rivalry is always good and it pits two 1-0 teams.

Stooper bowl: Heather vs. Neil.  Comon you know it.. this game just looks bad.

09.05.2003

After the Thursday game, not much is happening.  But Scott does have a decisive 20 point lead over Derrick... beyond that.. Todd leads Gary by 4 and Greg is up 1 over Mike.

09.02.2003

It is here! Finally. Week one of the 2003 NFL season.

That being said, here are the weekly matchups.

Obligatory Nude Scene vs. That One Team

Derrick starts the season as the defending DWFFL champions while Scott is still trying to forget about the way his season ended last year. Scott leads this all time series (1-0) as he stomped all over Derrick last year 106-96 in their only meeting.

Silent But Deadly vs. The Horny Priests

Hartnell was so close to a championship last year and has decided stay with the strategy of having a few really expensive good guys and no depth at all. Belz is coming off of a regular season conference championship only to let it slip away in a grudge match with Derrick in the playoffs. Hartnell leads the all time series (1-0) as he squeaked by last year 81-76.

Sweet Sister Mercy vs. The Boon Dock Saints

In what should be the sentimental game of the week, the twins face each other in their only scheduled meeting of the year. Mike is an expansion team trying to leave his mark on the league with out sucking. Greg is trying to make his team not suck anymore after the franchise he took over for went a dismal 3-11 last year.

The Mossters vs. Mee So Howrnee

In what amounts to a ho hum matchup, Todd will attempt to better his all time (8-8) record vs. an expansion team. Gary just hopes to start the right QB this week.

The Flying Monkees vs. La Revolucion

It was a rivalry last year, it will be again this year. That is why it gets game of the week honors. Though it is no longer a division rivalry, it is fresh in the minds of both participants as trash talking will ensue for days to come. Heather leads the all time series (2-0) but Brian fought hard in both contests last year. Both teams hope to improve on last years disappointing finishes overall though.

Pog Mo Thon vs. The Showstoppa’s

Given the title of "Stooper Bowl" of the week, these two anemic franchises (based upon last years stats) try to right the ship early on in the year. Beth takes over for Ben, enough said, while Neil has no excuses to fall back on. Let it be known that Beth’s team hold the overall series lead (1-0) but she is after all a new owner taking over for the old team. Last year Neil lost a heartbreaker 80-81 to Beth’s team.

News

The season kicks off in less than 4 days!  That's right.. there is a game on Thursday so if you want to play a player who plays on Thursday, I need notification by kick-off.

Transactions

It was the first week of transactions this week so we have our first waiver wire moves.

First though I'd like to announce a trade.  There has been a 3 way deal hammered out.

bulletThe Flying Monkees trade Jeremy Shockey ($8), Josh Reed ($3), Tai Streets ($2) and Jeff Wilkins ($1).  She will  receive Steve McNair ($9), Mike Alstott ($3), Troy Hambrick ($2) and the 49ers D ($1).  Suddenly Heather's team looks a lot like last years.
bulletThe Horny Priests deal Laveranues Coles ($9), Tamps Bay D ($3), LaMont Jordan ($1) and Mike Hollis ($1).  He gets back Jeremy Shockey ($8), Josh Reed ($3), Tai Streets ($2) and Jeff Wilkins ($1)
bulletThat One Team gives up Steve McNair ($9), Mike Alstott ($3), Troy Hambrick ($2) and the 49ers D ($1).  He will get Laveranues Coles ($9), The Bucs D ($3), Lamont Jordan ($1) and Mike Hollis ($1).

Welcome home fellas!  This trade re-unites the players with the teams they ended last year on.  That is to say every player traded made its way back to its original team.  Yes.. that is strange, don't look at me though.  I didn't do it.  Surprisingly, they didn't trade the draft picks back.

In the transactions department...

Drops

bulletThat One Team unloads Mike Hollis ($1) and ** Kelley Washington ($1).
bulletThe Mossters drop Ladell Betts ($2)

Additions

bulletThat One Team picks up Aaron Elling ($3) and Dieon Branch ($2)
bulletThe Mossters add Najeh Davenport ($2) and Johnnie Morton ($1)
bulletObligatory Nude Scene adds Zack Crockett ($1)
bulletThe Showstoppa's add Vinny Testaverde ($4)

08.29.2003

Transactions

It is the calm before the storm as there is less than one week till kick-off.  That being said, there have only been 2 transactions since the draft.

bulletThe Showstoppa's place Chad Pennington on the IR ending his season.  This move saves $4 and opens a roster spot.

The other transaction is a doozie.  There has been a three-way deal hammered out.

bulletPog Mo Thon gives up Rod Gardner ($13), Ashlie Lelie ($9), Randy McMichael ($4), Jay Fiedler ($2) and its 1st rounder next year.  Beth will be getting Keyshawn Johnson ($17), Tony Gonzalez ($13), Todd Pinkston ($2) and Drew Brees ($5).
bulletObligatory Nude Scene gives up Keyshawn Johnson ($17), Issac Bruce ($15), Onterrio Smith ($3) and Justin Fargas ($1).  Derrick will be getting Randy Moss ($31), Donte Stallworth ($4), Jay Fiedler ($2) and Beths 1st rounder next year.
bulletThe Mossters give up Randy Moss ($31), Tony Gonzalez ($13), Drew Brees ($5), Donte Stallworth ($4) and Todd Pinkston ($2).  Todd receives Issac Bruce ($15), Rod Gardner ($13), Ashlie Lelie ($9), Randy McMichael ($4), Onterrio Smith ($3) and Justin Fargas ($1).

Once the dust settles on this trade, Todd opens up $13 in cap room; Beth lowers her total cap room to $8 and Derrick has $1 to spend how ever he feels.

Yes, there have been transactions done already.

In the first move of the day, the defending champs made a minor move.

bulletObligatory Nude Scene sends Thomas Jones ($1) and Ashlie Lelie ($9) to Pog Mo Thon.

After the move, Derrick places Michael Bennett on the IR saving him $2 of salary.

In another move, Obligatory Nude Scene and The Mossters agreed to a deal.

bulletObligatory Nude Scene gives up some QB depth for WR depth sending Kerry Collins ($5) and a 1st round rookie pick next year to The Mossters.

News

Due to some event that to this day baffles the mind of the commissioner, just days before the auction Garret announced he was leaving the league.  By doing so he nearly forced me to cut a team which would have been a disaster.  To make a long story short, two consecutive years of backing out of the league on the eve of the draft is far to annoying.  He will not join this league.  It was a matter of money.. then a matter of scheduling.. even as of last weekend he said he'd play assuming he could get the league fee lowered, which I did briefly.  Then on Monday.. I got an e-mail saying "I'm out chief".  That was it.  So after scrambling I managed to find a new owner.  Welcome our new team lead by Gary.  His team will be known as Mee So Howrnee.
